The world has gone crazy.

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life, and I have never seen anything like this. NOTHING. This is hard to comprehend. And it happened to my own father and my own brother too. Right in front of my eyes.

My brother and I were playing golf at the South Course of Valley. We were on the 3rd hole, and we see two golf carts going past us, overtaking our flight, and setting up to tee off on the next hole. My dad goes up to them and asks them why they would do that, why they would overtake us without even asking for our permission. Golf etiquette 101. One of the guys says that they're with the flight in front of us. (So what? That doesn't give them the right to just pass us WITHOUT asking.) So, we go to the 5th hole. The flight behind us catches up with us, and asks us what caused the hold up. We said that this flight just slipped in front of our flight. So we complained to the marshall. We play the 5th hole and walk towards the next hole, where there is a teehouse, and both the flights in front of us were there, talking with the marshall. The mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur talks with my dad. Things get heated up. Voices were raised. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head..."Sorry na po, sorry na po...tama na...tama na po..." With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

I lash out, but my dad held me back. I was screaming my lungs out, shouting to this mayor, telling him about what he had done. I said: "Nakakahiya kayo. Singkwenta'y sais anyos ang tatay ko. And kapatid ko kakatorse anyos. Anong ilalaban nila sayo?"

The mayor looks at my brother, point to his face, and says, "Tatandaan kita!" And he tells me that my brother has a bad attitude and that I need to watch him. WHAT THE HELL?! So, my brother's bad for defending his father?!

We leave. We walk to the clubhouse to file a complaint. My brother asks for a doctor. My dad could barely walk. Their group comes to the clubhouse, sees my brother. Once again my brother pleads, says sorry, and is crying. He was CRYING, for crissakes. But no. The relentless mayor still punches him in the face, and then sees my dad and goes after my dad again. Him and his friend pull my dad to the ground, pulls at his feet, and steps on him like he's dirt. I run to him and try to hold him back, holding him back by his shirt, while this other guy and this girl tries to stop me. She tells me to just stop it. I scream in her face "they're beating my father up and you want me to stop?!" I pull at his shirt--I don't let go. All I can see was my dad being trampled on. I didn't even see my brother getting beat up.

People pull them away. I get my dad, and I saw my brother. His right ear was bleeding. I freaked out. I told the receptionists to bring my brother to the clinic. I pull my dad away. People were separating us.

My mom and my older brother come. I tell her Bino's right ear is bleeding. They both look like they could kill. My dad holds my brother off, I hold off my mom. When I finally got my mom under control, my older brother gets away and I hold him off. Two of the mayor's bodyguards pull out guns. I embraced my brother from the back, just holding him back, crying. The receptionists came to us, crying, hugging me, my dad, and my mom, whispering to us to just leave. "Maam, umalis na po kayo, may mga baril sila...Maam...umalis na po kayo please..."

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn't do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

Sounds like something out of a movie, doesn't it? But this is what happened. TODAY. The day after Christmas. To my family. And all I ask for is JUSTICE. The people at Valley Golf did not seem to want to help us. None of the security guards even tried to stop the fight. Right in the clubhouse. I came back after the fight was over and talked to the receptionists. They say they did not see anything. The general manager of Valley Golf would not give us the names of the men who made my brother's ear bleed. It took him an hour. Maybe even more than that. He seemed to not want to help us. Because, we were against the SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRARIAN REFORM and the MAYOR OF MASIU CITY, LANAO DEL SUR. They were all scared.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

Power tends to corrupt.. Absolute power corrupts absolutely...

Those who got a abuse power and influence, are a menace to a decent society. Evidence : turning a gentleman's golf game, to a game of golpe!

I saw the footmarks on the victims (dela Paz). Decent people don't fight or WORSE step on other human beings. (literally and figuratively.) Even dogs don't do that. These Pangandamans, their kind and their minions are worst than dogs! They have positions of Cabinet Official and Mayor, yet they behave like hoodlums and thugs. Shame on you!

My support is with you and your family. Your blog will be linked to all my blogs also. Keep up the fight.

I think these kind of abuse of power happens frequently if not everyday in the Philippines. We just don't hear about it until now. Thanks to Bambi for having the courage to write about it and letting the world know.

Politicians are supposed to serve and protect their constituents and NOT beat the hell out of a 56 yrs. old defenseless man and his 14 yrs. old son. I think that Mayor is an ignorant man and power has gotten into his head. Something has got to to be done by higher Filipino authorities to punish this Mayor by taking him out off his mayoral seat, send him to prison and let him pay a big amount of monetary compensation for the physical and mental damages done to your dad and your family.

I hope and pray for your family's safety and I hope and pray that justice will be served.

Take care,

It is funny about the video of Sr's response asking for bloggers to stop mentioniong anything about the issue. How else then the PEOPLE win a battle against POLITICIANS who have an upper hand, who uses their CONNECTIONS, POWER and GUNS?

Hope your family is safe ... by this time the Pangandaman figuring out some scare tactics.

Time for PEOPLE to STAND UP and DEFEND ourselves from oppression and those who abuse the POWER that was given to them by the PEOPLE.

Hi Grace!

You may see it as a people's reaction to so many years of being oppressed, bullied and hoodwinked.

The natural response is to fight back in whatever way possible....text, blog, graffiti, etc.

What your seeing isnt organized spin, it comes from the heart.

Dear Bambee,

We regret that you and your family also have to directly suffer the same violence that warlordism has long continued to inflict upon many of us here in Mindanao.

Our sympathies are with you, as we all continue the fight to get the justice that we all deserved.

Outrageous power-tripping. I hope these guys get what they deserve.

We should have shot a few people after EDSA. It would have made a difference today. Justice must prevail if we are to go anywhere as a nation. No more cheap forgiveness or idiotic reconciliation.

It does not take rocket science to see that there was abuse of power that transpired. The aim of the guilty and their paid hacks is to cast doubt on the hurt party so that no one's word can be trusted and so it is easy to wash it away.

If this happened in another country, this would have been dealt with dispatch and justice would be grinding quickly. No intervention from anyone. If it involved a public official, he would have been relieved immediately even if just temporarily. Any regular policeman would not have hesitated to summon all parties and come up with a thorough investigation.

The powerful are entrenched and can have their way unfortunately. Everybody else can go hang!

Boyd,

You seem to know about a lot about the incident since you are preaching about non factual conclusions of posters here including myself.

So now humor me/us. What kind of facts you claim you know which we apparently don't.

For me however, its plain and simple. There is no justification for a group of "GROWN MEN" to beat up 1 boy (14 year old). This is regardless of whether it was instigated by him or his father. The Pangandemonyo's are public officials, the son is an elected offical. They should have exhibited restraint and honor in spite of "so called agitations", but no they did not.

Now tell me/us, what is not factual about that?

Pangandaman sued the De La Paz for libel? Factual? The world indeed has gone crazy.

Boyd...Naseer Jr. ikaw ba yan? LOL

You are absolutely right.. The world has indeed gone mad and its the Filipino's fault-
The Filipino because:
We allowed poverty to fester in our land and just concertrated on OURselves, OUR family, OUR communities..
Due to poverty-voters who are poor now outnumber discerning, thinking voters 8 to 1..
During elections, warlords, drug lords, feudal lords (like the Pangandamans)and buy these votes while the incompetent showbiz personalities sell their fantasy to these poor ignirant voters..
Yes its our fault.. for letting the tyrants off the hook so they can go back and repurchase their positions and abuse it.. As long as we turn our backs on the ignirant and poor this wont end and the Arroyos, Bolantes and Pangandamans will continue to rule the country

Yes the world has gone crazy and its all our fault.. The elite Filipinos who allowed these tyrants to rule because of our own parochial interests- we ignired the growing poverty and are indifferent or at worse migrated. The poor and the ignorant voters now outnumber the middle class 8 to 1.. That is why the showbix personalities, the drug lords, the jueteng lords and the feudal lords like the Pangandamans get to buy their positions and keep it by force... For as long as we allow this situation to continue.. It is time for whatever is left of the country's thinking people to unite against the tyrant who abuse their power on the backs of the poor and ignorant.. The time for cleansing is at hand....

Just read from inquirer that both parties are willing to settle the case. But since no one made the first move no settlement has been made.

Quoted from Inquirer, Atty Fortun counsel for dela paz stated that Pangandamans appeared to have “too much pride” in refusing to approach the De la Pazes, whom he described as a “low income family.” Atty. Pastrana, lawyer of pangandamans, said that it is far fetched if his client will make the first move.

My token of idea is that this case would be settled. It is just a matter of time. I hope that I'm wrong because I want to see justice takes its course so that the parties can prove their allegations of injustices they are throwing against each other. And so that the bloggers (so far posted more than a thousand comments) can see that the wheels of justice is rolling. Not just

And these so called "politicians" does not even fare to be in golf courses, remember how small their salaries are compared to most of us OFW's. If ever they should be there, they would fit well as sand traps, hazards to society -literally.

What is it with these children of government officials? Just because their parent is in politics or something and they think they can get away with anything?

Sira din ulo nung agrarian secretary na yan at pinabayaan nya gumawa ng masama yung mga anak nya. It just goes to show what kind of person he is. SIRA!

I am not taking any sides here. I thought you might find this so-called investigation interesting.

This came from an article allegedly by Billy Esposo.

This is not the Valley Golf's official report but claims to be first hand sourced from the club's Head of the Fact Finding Committee. Offhand, it sounds like very pro Pangandaman. However, good friends have told me that in Valley Golf, the caddies avoid servicing Delfin de la Paz because they find him abusive and arrogant.

From Pinoygolfer.com

I just spent some time with the head of the fact-finding committee. He has submitted all pertinent facts to the board and leaves it to them to make the necessary decision based on all the facts. I will outline the facts to you as it was outlined to me. Rest assured that the facts were obtained from all parties involved and all witnesses at each incident site. The statements were obtained both by the valley fact-finding group and by the NBI as well. Testimonies were recorded, verified, and re-verified. Fortunately for the parties involved, there were always witnesses to give supporting statements on the events as they occurred.

I will compose the outline shortly as it will be lengthy but just to whet your appetite or get you thinking, you will be quite surprised with the findings. Let's put it this way, the people we thought of as villains weren't quite what they were depicted to be. and the supposed protagonists may have yet been quite as factual in their testimony as it turns out to be. Even our 14-year old isn't as innocent and "prayerful" when all the details come out. just give me a few minutes....

In the interest of making sure that no facts might be left undisclosed, I will take it upon myself to start from the very beginning. Firstly let us start by saying that on or at about 12:40 p.m., the party of the Pangandaman's registered at the starter's area. They registered for 2 flights comprised of 4 individuals per flight. Unfortunately, they still had 2 members of their group that had not yet arrived, so they initially tee'd off as 2 successive threesomes. The starter and marshall were informed that the 2 individuals that had not yet arrived would just catch up with them in the fairway. On or at about 1:05 p.m. the Dela Paz group registered initially as a twosome but since this isn't normally allowed, they registered as a 3-some even if the elder Mr. Dela Paz was not really going to play.

When the Dela Paz 3-some was playing on hole number 3, they were passed by 2 golf carts containing Mayor Pangandaman and his companion (in one cart) and the caddies being brought by one of the starter personnell. The Pangandaman's did not ask permission to drive through because they did not want to disturb the Dela Paz's who were in the middle of the fairway. Upon reaching the green of the 3rd hole, Mr. Dela Paz asked the caddie why the people in the cart just went through. Mayor Pangandaman who was already positioned at the 4th hole, personally informed Mr. Dela Paz that they were part of 2 foursomes. At this point, Mr. Dela Paz said "ah okay, courtesy lang naman". This was verified by the caddies. Mr. Pangandaman said that he did not disturb them anymore because the player was about to hit. At this point, Mayor Pangandaman thought everything was okay so he proceeded to the 4th hole (Par 3) where his other flightmates were. In the records it says that Mr. Pangandaman was not yet even done pitching into the green when a ball landed near his 8-year old child so they immediately made sure the child was secured in the cart. ( For those unaware of the common practice at Valley Golf, on every par 3, the group behind you is signaled to hit into the green once everyone from your group is already on the green) Until you have been cleared to hit by the group ahead, you should not hit into the green. It is common sense and basic precautionary procedure.

In this particular case, we have no corroborative testimony. One set of caddies say they were given clearance, while the other say that no clearance was given as of yet when the ball/s had landed.

The Pangandaman's claim that the same situation happened in the 5th hole (Par5). Even the caddied confirmed this. At this time, Bambee Dela Paz had called the Marshall to tell him that the flight behind them was complaining about why their pace was slow and that the cause of the delay was the 5-some in front of them. Shortly thereafter, a marshall on his motorcycle appeared and approached the Pangandaman's and asked if they were playing as a fivesome to which the Mayor said no. "We are 2 foursomes". Nonetheless, the Pangandaman's had already agreed among themselves that they would rather the Dela Paz's play through. The Mayor was even quoted saying to his Father. " magagaling yung mga bata at malakas pumalo, baka mabagalan sa atin" They informed the marshall that they would just let the Dela Paz group play through and the marshall informed the Mr. Dela Paz of this. (Just as an aside, the investigative group actually asked the group behind Dela paz if indeed they had complained about the slow down and the group said that the y said no such thing to the Dela paz flight. They were not even in contact at anytime before they arrived at the tee house to see the fight and eventually help stop it.) When the Delapaz group reached the green of hole 5, the caddies of the 2 kids gave them their drivers so that they would waste no time playing through. The Mayor, who at that time was sitting along with their companions, stood up to personally tell Mr. Dela Paz to play through. Caddies, and the tee house server claim that the Mayor told Dela Paz na "Mauna na ho kayo" and walked to approach Dela Paz, The response of Dela Paz was "Huwag mo akong pagtaasan ng boses" Dela Paz began to question the Mayor why they were playing as a fivesome. The Mayor said that this was not the case but Dela Paz was insisting and even said (again corroborated by the caddies) "Linoloko mo ba ako?" "Member ka ba dito, Kilala mo ba ako?" (as you can see, this question did not come from Pangandaman. In fact, in the recorded testimony, this is exactly what Pangandaman claimed delapaz had said to him and yet in Delapaz' recorded statement, he never said that the mayor asked him " kilala mo ba ako" Completely different from when the media was already involved.

When Delapaz was posing the above question, the mayor was heard to say. "Sandali lang, hindi naman tayo nagaaway dito. Akala ko ba naayos na natin yung issue kanina sa hole 3? At about this point Delapaz closed his umbrella and then poked the mayor on his stomach using the pointed end ( some caddies say Dela Paz swung the umbrella and some say that he poked the Mayor) The investigative board asked Dela Paz what he did, he said that he poked the Mayor in self defense. When asked who was attacking him, Dela Paz said that he was being surrounded by 4 men. The caddies and other witnesses on hand said that when the umbrella incident happened, it was only Dela Paz and the mayor that were talking. The other parties were in the tee house about 15-20 yards away. The Mayor says he was poked and so he backed off and just as he was about to be poked again, his brother, Hussein ran and attacked Delapaz and hit Delapaz knocking him to the ground.( At this point the commotion took place. One of the things observed is 14-year old Bino hit the Mayor with his driver. Apparently, the mayor parried with his forearm and hand so this is where he sustaned the injury. In the process also, Hussein was being pulled off the older dela paz by his 2 children but again Bino was seen to hit Hussein in the face and head while Bambee had scratched the other side of Husseins face. At this time also, witnesses say, that 3 or 4 other members of the flight excluding the Secretary, the 8-year old boy, and the girlfriend of Hussein were involved in attacking or subduing the older dela paz but this lasted very shortly and when the combatants had been separated the existing people in the tee house as well as the new flight that was playing behind the dela paz's.

At this point the Secretary told the delapaz group to leave so as to avoid any more trouble. As the elder delapaz was leaving he was heard calling someone on his cellphone saying " may away kami, pumunta kayo dito"
No one knew who delapaz was speaking to as he walked away towards the main clubhouse. A few minutes later, the secretary and his group decided to end the day instead of continuing to play. When they got to the clubhouse, Hussein wanted to wash up because he was bleeding in the neck area. As he got near the reception area, he saw delapaz and was heard to have said "O, nandito pa pala kayo" to which Dela Paz said "Hindi pa tapos ito gaganti pa kami". At this point, Bino got in between his Dad and Hussein while saying " Tatandaan ka namin" (None of the witnesses in the clubhouse, and there were many, ever saw Bino kneel and say that he was only 14 years old at maawa na sila) On the contrary, Bino was acting like anything but a helpless child. He sounded tough, angry, and antagonistic enough that the fight broke out again. At this point, the bodyguards of the Mayor ran into the clubhouse via the poolside entrance. When questioned about this, the mayor said that one was his driver and the other was his "Yayo". As far as the board was concerned, the "Yayo" was also a bodyguard. Said Yayo came into the clubhouse with a clutchbag containing a gun and brought out the gun without pointing it at anyone. The Mayor immediately instructed him that there was no need for guns and the gun was put back. During the investigation, the Mayor said that the handgun was his and that his "yayo" was likely going to give it to him but he declined. Upon instructing his "yayo", the man just stayed in one corner. At this time the wife of Dela Paz and his other son arrived. The son was wielding a baseball bat and the wife had a knife which she pulled out of a scabbard. These two were subdued by security but they were verbally threatening the Pangandaman's during this time. There was also a reported incident where the driver of the mayor ran out and came back with a suitcase containing a supposed armalite as claimed by valley security. The driver never pulled it out or pointed it at anyone but it was readily accesible.

Seriously, that is it?

Nothing in between those moments? Are we supposed to be objective on this statements right away, because thats a lot of room to be misleading through a blog.

Now, Im betting the truth will come out soon and I cannot wait to see who fouled.

Remember, Anything can said can and will be used against the person in a court of law.

Thanks for the blogging its making everything easy."

Hey Boyd...or is it Naseer or Hussein perhaps? Whatever...

Nice try, but the bloggers here are not stupid as you may believe.

The only way for the Pangandemonyo's to overcome the case(s) filed against them is through manipulation, abuse of power, influence and money. Which by the way is expected, considering that he is one of the "alaga" of GMA. Why would GMA enrage her "ally" from Mindanao, she might run the risk of another rebellion in the south...apart from what is happening right now.

So for us bloggers, we just resort to the net to express our feelings towards those PIGS! Because no matter how you twist and spin the story, the bottomline is that the Pangandamans are ABUSIVE, ARROGANT, INHUMANE, IGNORANT and most especially COWARDS!

Libel??...oh really now...SO SUE US! LOL..why not sue the whole internet community while your at it? LOL

And yeah I have to agree with you, blogging indeed is making things easy LOL Thanks for reminding us hahahaha

So sorry to hear about all this. Has any of the local media picked this up yet? It's an important story that NEEDS TO BE COVERED.

If any member of the Filipino media community reads this post, please consider covering this story.

This would be absolutely unacceptable in any first world nation - it is JUST AS unacceptable in a developing country.

I guess all of you are far more better than bolante who sold his dignity, principle and everything just to please his AMO... DO U WANT TO BE LIKE THIS?????

The dela paz family really is the one to be blame for what happened to them. They thought because ang galing galing ng mga ank nila kaya they own the world... come to think of this!!! Poor ba yong family na palagi guest sa mga TV, Radio and even print media.

Dont sensationalize the issue because mas marami dapat pagtoonan ng pansin tulad ng corruption sa governo as vividly shown sa sa alabang boys drug scandal..

Im one of those who first read your blog right after the incident....and immidiately I sympathized and sided with your family, even without seeing first the other side of the coin. Im even one of thos who receieved your email to your friends where you based this blog. Yes I have the original version, where you used so many "colorful" language....thats why the URL of this blog is "world-is-fucked-up.html". Now you changed that email version into a more "subtle" version in this blog.

Anyway, why didnt you include "all details" of the incident? You mentioned in the 3rd paragraph that "things get heated up, voices were raised", then one thing led to another. Can you please elaborate and give us a more detailed report? WHY DID things get heated up? WHO made things get heated up? I see you omit that part.

Also, why didnt you include in your blog that part where you and your brother intentionally hit your balls to the direction of the Pangandamans where they almost got hit? Thats a "mortal sin" in the game of golf. Im sure you know that since you are a golf scholar. Its either your dad consented your actions to get even with the Pangandamans who overtook your flight, or your dad instructed you to do it. Again I see you omit that part.

Also I see you didnt mention that part where your brothers came as resbak with baseball bats with them.

At sino ba talaga sa inyo ang nagsabi na "Hindi mo ako kilala"? Ang Pangandaman nga ba....or ang Dad mo?

Hmmm so many details you omitted.

You see I have heard many past stories from golfers in Valley Golf na minsan arrogant and disrespectful din kayo lalo na sa mga golfers na hindi kasing galing sa inyo. Yet pinalalagpas lang nila kase mas "powerful at kilala" kayo kaysa kanila.

I personally think this is a case of "bully meets bully"...nakahanap ng katapat ikanga. Unfortunately yung kilalang bully natalo pero hindi matanggap ang pagkatalo so they resorted to get sympathy through media and through blogging.

Yet pinalalabas nyo sa media na "poor" kayo against the rich and powerful politicians. I must admit that the Pangandamans are filthy righ and powerful and abusado and they should not be sitting in a government position, shame on them....pero PLEASE dont ever portray yourself na "poor" kayo. The size of your house, your income, your business, your golf hobby, the exclusive schools you attend to, golf scholarships abroad....is not and never will be considered as POOR, not even considered as "middle-class". Iniinsulto nyo lang ang mga totooong poor.

I dont side with the Pangandamans nor with you. Im neutral, and I only want the TRUTH. So if you want people to believe in you, please try to TELL ALL, tell everything, tell all details, dont omit any important details in your report of the incident. Be credible. AND dont ever say your family is "poor".

Nakikita ko na ang ending ng storya nato. You guys will end up in an "out-of-court" settlement....because you know na kayo ang nagpasimuno ng gulo, so to save your face, hindi nyo itutuloy ang kaso dahl baka lumabas ang katotohanan mapahiya lang kayo. So I will understand if you settle just for that, kahit na other comments here are pleading you to fight and not settle it out-of-court.

Kase kung talagang totoo ka, your are telling the truth at alam mong kayo ang nasa tama...ipaglalaban nyo talaga yan sa korte.

"Libel: A libel case consists of published material with the following criteria: (1) The material is defamatory; (2) the written statements are about someone who is identifiable and living; (3) the material is distributed to someone other than the victim. A key in a libel case is that the victim's reputation must suffer as a result of these written words in order for the action to be actionable." - http://www.munley.com/business_law/legal_glossary_l.html

Ouch. A lot of people committed libel here already... And for me, I think this article does have some potentials for libel given that I've read that there is an original post which was then edited to better suit a general audience.

I've read dino's post and I do agree with him that this post seems to be one-sided. Like him, I'm not siding with either party. If you truly want justice, practice fairness in both sides. Lopsidedness is not justice. And pride is never ever good when it comes to brawls.

Lizzy said...

Oh yeah. To all those who believe this has nothing to do with golf, unfortunately for you people, it HAS everything to do with golf.

I'm not a golfer myself but I've learned from my uncle a few rules of golf that the flight with lesser members (e.g. threesomes) should let/allow the flight with more members (e.g. foursomes) play first.

Just a note. Justice is not weighed with emotions but with facts. Facts.

Why I'm posting here is because this subject matter (GOLF) interests me and if I can, I would contribute what I know of that could pinpoint as to who started these all.

@TOpinoy

Everyone knows it is punishable to abuse a minor like the 14-year old DelaPaz. But does BINO wear a shirt that says "I am 14-years old"???

Pero matanong kita....kung ikaw ang nasa sitwasyon. Bino attacks you with a golf club. You didnt know he is 14 years old. He is 5'6" and 140lbs. What would you do???? Would you ask him for a time-out first and ask him his age? Now even if he tells you he is 14-years old, would you believe right away? How would you know he really is 14 years old considering his height and weight bigger than you? I mean anybody can say he is 14 years old!

Now even if he is telling the truth that he is 14 yrs old....would you still not defend yourself and let him hit you with his golf club? What if kung natamaan ka ng matindi hindi ka na magising? Okay lang kase 14-yr-old lang sya? Hypocrite! GET REAL!

If I am the person Bino is going to attack with a swing of his golf club, I will surely defend myself, do something even before he hits me. Assuming I survive his first attack, I will surely punch him real hard in the face knock him down or cripple him to make sure he cannot swing that golf club again at me. Then sa korte na kami maghaharap. Remember....that 14-yr-old kid, who in the first place during the brawl you didnt know the age, is 140lbs and 5'6"!

Well lets say "kahit na, dapat hindi papatol pag 14-yrs-old". Matanong kita...wala ka bang alam o wala ka ba naririnig na mga holdaper or snatcher na 14-yrs old? Ano gagawin mo pag isang 14-yr-old eh hoholdapin ka or papasuking ka sa bahay nyo sa gabi para magnakaw or patayin kayo? Patatawarin mo dahil 14-yr-old pa sya? GET REAL!

AGAIN, remember....that 14-yr-old kid, who in the first place during the brawl you didnt know his age, is 140lbs and 5'6".

I dont know with you guys, baka mga weakling kayo nung 14 pa kayo, but when I was that age, I am very aware what trouble or damage I am capable of.

Dino,

You're right, you wouldnt know if a person was 14 years old unless sabihin nya sa yo....But then, knowledge of it doesnt mean that a counter strike isnt possible...or on the other hand, people have been known to inflict harm to a person irregardless of age...mapa 6 months old to 85 years old, walang impossible.

I would look beyond the age issue here because there was a story somewhere about an 8-year old pangandaman kid who they say was almost hit by a golf ball....it clouds the discussion and becomes an emotional issue.

I would rather condemn the act itself.

Have a nice day!

can anybody here organize how to send donations to Bambee and family? we have to let these Pangandamans know that Filipinos will not tolerate this kind of stupidity.

What a terrible thing to happen to your family. People really have gone crazy. What they have done is totally demeaning and anger-provoking. Those people really do deserve to go to hell. But that's exactly the same reason why we shouldn't condemn them. They have already condemned their own selves by what they have done. Whatever good or evil a man does, he does to himself, says Jesus. Imagine them going to hell for all eternity. Will it really make us happy, or would we be happier to pray for them instead and see them converted like the prodigal son, welcomed with joy by everyone in heaven? To tell you the truth, pity should be felt more for the attackers rather than the victims. If we compare the suffering of these people in a possible eternity in hell and your family in just days here on earth, that is reason enough not to condemn them. Only Jesus has the authority to judge, and to bring justice. That is what purgatory is for. Because all of us should be condemned for we are all sinners in different ways and degrees. If we have a member of our own family who have done the same evil to someone, we wouldn't wish for him to go to hell, we would only try to correct him because we love him, and wish only for his conversion. And aren't we all brothers and sisters in Christ? We shouldn't wish for anyone to go to hell. Even God allows evil men to live longer. You might have heard of the saying,"Matagal mabuhay ang masamang damo". God delays justice knowing that there is hope for conversion, because come to think of it, God has the whole eternity to punish them! Rather, we should wish for them to see the light of what they had done and for them to repent before it is too late.

With regards to the sufferings you experienced in the hands of these people, it is a gift that you can give to God. Sufferings are our only gift we can offer to God, for what else can we give to the Almighty Father? Because Jesus Himself suffered for us. You can very well offer your sufferings to God as a sacrifice in order to merit the conversion of your offenders. Then, you will be Christ-like. This is how we save souls. This is how we take part in God's plan of salvation, by praying for others, even our enemies. All of us are given the power to save souls, both living and dead, while we are on earth. And this power is prayer for others.

May you be enlightened by the Holy Spirit. Your family is a victim of the evil of men. But worse for your offenders, they are victims of the evil one who is on the brink of destroying their souls for eternity, so let us be more compassionate and merciful to them.

Anyway, as I have mentioned in my past comment which I will quote here:

"Nakikita ko na ang ending ng storya nato.

The world has gone crazier really. After weighing all the "facts of the case" during the incident involving the Pangandamans and the De la Pazes, I am no longer sure who I to believe in right now. If we are going to base the findings and the resolution handed out by the Valley Golf Club Committee, it shows that the De la Pazes were not 100% correct with their allegations against the Pangandamans who may not be the real trouble makers. That's why I was thinking did majority of the bloggers erred in immediately finding fault at the DAR secretary and his family without hearing both sides of the case? This is a case of a "he said she said" thing magnified further by the use of media in propagating disturbing images of bloodied ears. We should not be jumping to conclusion right away just because public servants are involved and I hate to say this also Muslims wielding power in a predominantly Catholic nation. I do not want to be misunderstood as a Muslim propagandist. I am a Christian trying to look for the truth and nothing but the truth.

verum said...

Makabayan96,

Precisely why i posted in this blog and used the name VERUM. I too only want the truth. And hearing one side of the story and passing judgment is definitely not the way to go.

Like I said, I do not know the Pangandamans. For all I know they may be very bad people who do abuse their power. But in this particular case, they obviously did not. They may be the most corrupt politicians in the land, and for that may they burn in hell. But for this incident, they should not be judged by a blog which is not all factual.

I also know that PH golf is closely tied with prostitution for many foreign visitors especially Fil-Ams from USA. I was sick to my stomach discovering this association from my last golf trip in Jan 2008. Local golf pros, politicians and tour operators are in business together and willing sacrifice young pinays for prostitution services of Fil-Ams golfers. It is that time of the year again where local hotels and golf courses will be filled by these sick individuals. I also love the way they make up some charity to benefit from these trips. I attended one last year at Sherwood CC in Cavite where local politicians and PH ambassador attended the event. In the end, it was money making prostitution business using the game of golf. Again, the true meaning of the game of golf has been compromise and violated by corrupt business people and politicians who are all on the take as always. PH will always be a 3rd world country unless the people truly rise up with arms against these corrupt politicians & the elite business people.

TP,

You've heard of that too huh?

Maybe the golfers in our blog group would like to elaborate.

Thanks for sharing.

please share with us your version of the truth so that we may be enlightened.

Roxanne, Lee;
Truth is truth regardless of your own personal biases and formed opinions as well as your own insecurities. Just as I said please talk to any employee, personnel, caddy, marshall, waiter, umbrella girls, towel boys, or security guards of Valley Golf and Country Club and if you get just one favorable opinion about the de la Paz family, then I rest my case. By the way, do you play golf?

alabmw said...

Why do you think no one among the thousands of members of the Valley Golf and Country Club has supported the de la Paz family publicly? If that is not making a statement then I don't know how people can be so naive and be taken for an emotional ride.

alabmw said...

Please get real, objective, kind, fair, and humble enough to realize that we can make mistakes in judgement. Most of your blog entries have been so judgemental which is the very antithesis of your very own posturing of being so morally upright without knowing the facts or at least being inquisitive instead of being so opinionated.

For those of you who have hurled threats against the protagonists in this ugly incident, may I say you are no different from the people you condemn. As the Philosophical adage states, "People judge people by their own standards."

alabmw,

thanks for the response.

yes i do play golf and have known it as a gentleman's sport.....but have also seen some world class a-holes too, some of them politicos or relatives of politicos so this really isnt new to me.

will not dispute the fact that the old man dela paz is an a-hole as some of my buddies have said, and had it coming to him for biting off more than he could chew.

but i still ascribe to the point that golfers in general are gentlemen, and mature ones at that....the right thing to do would have been to report the initial incident to valley golf management and ask for intercession, perhaps at that point, things could have been patched up over a cup of coffee, etc, etc, etc.

oh yes, we could always ask the caddies, security, marshalls, umbrella girls, etc about the incident and am sure we will hear na abusado nga yun matanda...like i said, he likely had it coming to him (like a chihuahua biting a doberman)and was too macho to quit when he should have...dont get me wrong about this, the facts do point to who the instigator was.

insecurities? hmmmm....isnt that out of topic?

lets keep this discussion healthy....again thanks for the response.

LEE said...

alabmw,

agree with you....we keep the discussions clean, nobody hurls threats against any of the protagonists.

of what good will it do? kick a guy in balls because he is muslim? totally irrational....hit bambee? what for?

alabmw said...

Lee,
I apologize for the unkind statements I made in my commentary. I agree with you 100% that the only proper thing to do as a response to the unruly behaviour of the de la Paz family was to go to the marshalls and the management and complain about it.
I'm so glad that there is a golfer like you who understand the nuances of the game, hence the reasons for what happened after the provocations. Best regards

Let this unfortunate incident serve us a valuable lesson in being humble, kind, gentle, fair, and truthful instead of being adversarial and judgemental. Happy blogging to all.

alabmw,

ok lang, no harm done.

the world is so full of regrets, di ba? Sana ginawa ko ito para walang away. Sana di ko na lang siya sinundot ng payong para di ako nagulpi. Sana pinigilan ko mga bodyguard ko para di lumaki ang gulo at hindi ako napako sa cruz ng mga bloggers....

again, lessons to be learned...we can all learn from this and avoid as best as we can, the mistakes that these poor souls made.

thanks for the response.

alabmw said...

Where do you play? Are you a he or a she? You sure feel like a very likeable golfing buddy. I hope you don't mind my asking.

LEE said...

alabmw,

can confidently say that am a "he." he, he, he....

sadly, am not a member of any of the golf clubs, that's too expensive for my poor wallet...but when you have friends, there's always a way to get around.

have tried alabang country club, kagitingan, club intramuros, wack wack, eagle ridge....and oh yes, the now (in)famous valley golf & country club.

just playing the game for the heck of it, not really a regular so di pa naman ako nangitim.....

best regards.

Bloggers All,
May I suggest that before we give an opinion about anything that we don't fully understand, that we first make inquiries, ask questions, educate ourselves, lest we make fools of ourselves with our nonsensical and biased opinions expressing nothing but our very own ignorance and insecurities. THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE VALLEY GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB INCIDENT
By Indz Badelles
Mon 6:28pm

Hi Guys,

Below is the Pangandaman’s official story regarding the incident in Valley Golf. Please feel free to post this in your sites and comment.
Thank you.

Your voices have been heard and now it’s time for us to let everyone know the real story regarding the incident in Valley Golf…..

As a public official with a good record in public service, never have I thought of putting my reputation and our family’s name at stake by engaging in a non-sense brawl with ill-mannered people. Thus, I will not allow anyone to put a stain on our family’s name and assassinate our true character with lies.

An investigation has been initiated and we suggest we let it take its course. The other party has also aired its side. And it will be prudent to just wait for the results of the investigation. We pray and believe that the truth will come out and the issue be put to rest once and for all.

Below is a true and actual narration of the incident that happened last December 26, 2008 at the Valley Golf Club, Antipolo, Rizal.

On December 26, 2008 at around 11:00am, our group composed of Rene Maglanque, Sec. Nasser Panagandaman, Arnel Estacio and Atty. Faisal Abdullah registered to play with the Valley Golf on the first (1st) flight of our group. The second (2nd) flight was composed of Hussein Pangandaman, Adnan Pacasum, Nasser Pangandaman, Jr. and Farah Locsin. We also registered the eight year old son of Hussein named Angelo Pangandaman whom they cannot leave behind the clubhouse as there will be no one to take care of him.

Nasser Pangandaman, Jr. and Farah Locsin were late. They caught up with their flight (2nd) at hole no. 4 accompanied by a marshall and their caddies riding on two golf carts and in the process overtaking the flight of Mr. Delfin de la Paz who reacted by protesting what seems to be an overtaking of flight. Nasser Jr. explained to the elder De la Paz that they will just catch up and join their flight mates at hole no. 4. He further explained that they, who like them, had earlier lined up to play and were pre-registered. With the said explanation, del Paz replied “Okey, kortesiya lang.”

When the 2nd flight of Nasser Jr. already played hole no. 4 which is a par 3 and Nasser Jr. was still outside of the green trying to pitch his ball into the green, the flight of dela Paz hit their shots into the green which almost hit Hussein without shouting “Fore!”. Surprised, though sensing trouble which they deemed to choose to avoid, they allowed the other Dela Paz player to hit his shot so they can peacefully resume and concentrate on their playing. At this point, the caddy of Nasser Jr also took the 8 year old Angelo to stay behind the golf cart to avoid being hit by golf balls coming from the dela Paz players.

On the next hole which is hole no. 5, after the 2nd Pangandaman flight hit their drives into the fairway and before they could hit their second shots, again the dela Paz players hit their drives without warning by shouting “fore”! the 2nd Pangandaman flight puzzled and surprised asked themselves why the flight behind them were doing this to them since they could be hit by their golf balls. One caddy even said, “Ano ba yun?”

When the 2nd flight reached the green of hole no. 5 and after holing out, they joined the 1st flight of Sec. Pangandaman and took their snacks. While doing so, the marshall approached and told Nasser Jr. that the dela Paz’s were complaining why they were 5 of them in their group and why they overtook their flight. Nasser Jr. reiterated to the marshall what he explained to the elder dela Paz, which his knowledge the former already accepted his explanation.

Later, unconvinced even after the marshall relayed to him that there were only four (4) and not five (5) in their flight, and that they were not overtaking as they just had to go back to the clubhouse and later join their flight.

The elder dela Paz came and approached Nasser Jr. already agitated and pointing saying, “Mali ka! There were two carts in your flight and you overtook us!” Nasser Jr. answered, “Akala ko po, Sir, nagkaintindihan na ho tayo kanina”.

Explaining about them not overtaking yet elder dela Paz was not convinced , and at the top of his voice said, “Putang ina ka! Member ka ba dito, ha?, Hindi mo ba ako kilala?”

Nasser Jr. patiently and respectfully explained again to him their side, even using “po” and “Sir” – as a sign of respect without revealing that he is the Mayor of Masiu, Lanao del Sur, and replied, “Bakit po kayo sumisigaw? Hindi po tayo nag-aaway”.
The elder dela Paz reacted, “Ikaw ang naghahanap ng away!”, while pulling his umbrella and thrusted the pointed part and hit the belly of Nasser Jr., while the latter was backing up.

The marshall tried to intervene but the elder Dino dela Paz pressed on which prompted and led Hussein to defend his brother. Dela Paz punched Hussein and they engaged in a fist fight.
Meantine, Nasser Jr., prevented the two (2) younger dela Paz from joining the fight by saying, “Awat na, Awat na”. but they got away from him and went in between their father and Hussein. The two young dela Paz was able to hold Hussein preventing him to reach the elder dela Paz as if “umaawat”. Yet, Bino Lorenzo dela Paz kept punching Hussein in the face and Marie dela Paz from behind kept on scratching his face.

In one instance, the elder Dino dela Paz took hold of a golf club driver and tried to hit Hussein. But, Rene Maglanque was able to get hold of the driver’s shaft and took it away from him.

Later on, Sec. Pangandaman, Rene Maglanque, and another golfer from another flight pacified everybody and asked the dela Paz’s to just leave them to prevent further trouble. Delfin dela Paz called someone in his cellphone and we heard him say, “Punta kayo ditto! May away kami!”

The dela Paz’s left. And, after about ten minutes, our group also discontinued playing and went back to the clubhouse. When Hussein was hurrying up to the bathroom to relieve himself and wash his wounds, the elder Dino dela Paz accosted him and warned him in a threatening voice, “Ikaw mag-ingat ka! Hindi pa tayo tapos! Gagantihan kita!”
Blocking is way to the locker room, Hussein replied, “Hindi ka pa ba umaalis? Sumusobra ka na”, the young Bino Lorenzo went in the middle saying, “Huwag po, fourteen years old lang ako”, and yet having his fist ready to give him a punch.
Hence, Hussein defended himself and the three engaged in another fist fight. Maridel dela Paz came from behind Hussein and started scratching Hussein on the right cheek, the neck, and ear, while pulling and tearing his shirt.

Immediately after, they were prevented from further engaging in a fist fight by those present in the clubhouse, the security and other golfers. But the elder dela Paz still shouted “Gaganti ako. Hindi pa tayo tapos.”

The rest of the dela Paz family arrived, with the eldest son carrying a baseball bat. The wife in “duster” with a bladed weapon in hand, as if ready to assault Hussein. They were likewise prevented by the clubhouse security and other golfers present.
At this point, Sec. Pangandaman told his sons to leave already and the dela Paz’s to stop and leave, so that no more untoward incident would happen. Soon, we also left but we had to leave through the parking exit because the dela Paz family was waiting for us at the clubhouse lobby.

------

Which is which? Hmm.

alabmw,

makes sense for you to say that....

but understand this, some bloggers may just be letting loose some of their pent up emotions out of angst / frustration either out of bad experience.

let us allow them to let it all hang out....up to us if we wish to respond, or dignify the comments.

LEE said...

rasterbabble,

thanks for sharing the story....

why didnt this story come out sooner?

hope this results in some intelligent exchange of opinions and not the typical "i told you so" or "who lying now" or "#@!!!*$$$$" type comments. Ok?

Thanks again.

Kung wala tayong alam sa isang bagay, magtanong muna tayo bago magsalita ng laban sa kaninuman.

alabmw said...

angst, frustations, or bad experiences and if I may add personal insecurities do not give us a license to villify other people just as the de la Paz supporters have done. Their statements have already done harm to people and may have formed opinions of many others to believe their lies.

Nobody has the right to spread lies even in the internet.

Abu, read your comments again...you are not making any sense...you are not even giving an intelligent opinion...wala kang sinabi kundi puro galit at sama ng loob. Nonsense ka kausap. Hindi nagiisip bago magsalita. Ikaw yung tipong kulang sa pansin at dapat hindi pinapansin.

Why abu? Truth hurts indeed huh? Sige just cover your eyes, ears, mouth. Avoid the truth because it hurts you! Ay hindi pala ang mouth kse yan lang ang alam mo magsisigaw sa galit.
