The world has gone crazy.

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life, and I have never seen anything like this. NOTHING. This is hard to comprehend. And it happened to my own father and my own brother too. Right in front of my eyes.

My brother and I were playing golf at the South Course of Valley. We were on the 3rd hole, and we see two golf carts going past us, overtaking our flight, and setting up to tee off on the next hole. My dad goes up to them and asks them why they would do that, why they would overtake us without even asking for our permission. Golf etiquette 101. One of the guys says that they're with the flight in front of us. (So what? That doesn't give them the right to just pass us WITHOUT asking.) So, we go to the 5th hole. The flight behind us catches up with us, and asks us what caused the hold up. We said that this flight just slipped in front of our flight. So we complained to the marshall. We play the 5th hole and walk towards the next hole, where there is a teehouse, and both the flights in front of us were there, talking with the marshall. The mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur talks with my dad. Things get heated up. Voices were raised. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head..."Sorry na po, sorry na po...tama na...tama na po..." With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

I lash out, but my dad held me back. I was screaming my lungs out, shouting to this mayor, telling him about what he had done. I said: "Nakakahiya kayo. Singkwenta'y sais anyos ang tatay ko. And kapatid ko kakatorse anyos. Anong ilalaban nila sayo?"

The mayor looks at my brother, point to his face, and says, "Tatandaan kita!" And he tells me that my brother has a bad attitude and that I need to watch him. WHAT THE HELL?! So, my brother's bad for defending his father?!

We leave. We walk to the clubhouse to file a complaint. My brother asks for a doctor. My dad could barely walk. Their group comes to the clubhouse, sees my brother. Once again my brother pleads, says sorry, and is crying. He was CRYING, for crissakes. But no. The relentless mayor still punches him in the face, and then sees my dad and goes after my dad again. Him and his friend pull my dad to the ground, pulls at his feet, and steps on him like he's dirt. I run to him and try to hold him back, holding him back by his shirt, while this other guy and this girl tries to stop me. She tells me to just stop it. I scream in her face "they're beating my father up and you want me to stop?!" I pull at his shirt--I don't let go. All I can see was my dad being trampled on. I didn't even see my brother getting beat up.

People pull them away. I get my dad, and I saw my brother. His right ear was bleeding. I freaked out. I told the receptionists to bring my brother to the clinic. I pull my dad away. People were separating us.

My mom and my older brother come. I tell her Bino's right ear is bleeding. They both look like they could kill. My dad holds my brother off, I hold off my mom. When I finally got my mom under control, my older brother gets away and I hold him off. Two of the mayor's bodyguards pull out guns. I embraced my brother from the back, just holding him back, crying. The receptionists came to us, crying, hugging me, my dad, and my mom, whispering to us to just leave. "Maam, umalis na po kayo, may mga baril sila...Maam...umalis na po kayo please..."

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn't do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

Sounds like something out of a movie, doesn't it? But this is what happened. TODAY. The day after Christmas. To my family. And all I ask for is JUSTICE. The people at Valley Golf did not seem to want to help us. None of the security guards even tried to stop the fight. Right in the clubhouse. I came back after the fight was over and talked to the receptionists. They say they did not see anything. The general manager of Valley Golf would not give us the names of the men who made my brother's ear bleed. It took him an hour. Maybe even more than that. He seemed to not want to help us. Because, we were against the SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRARIAN REFORM and the MAYOR OF MASIU CITY, LANAO DEL SUR. They were all scared.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

So now some of you all here believe that because that the title of the Pangandamans version of the story is "the Real Story blah blah blah" that it is really the real story? Unbelievable!

alabmw,

i would rather respect the anger, rationalize it, then deal with it.

better that people let it out rather than keep it in them....helps to calm the spirit.

so honestly, i cant knock people for feeling a certain way as I dont know where the anger is coming from.

that should be one of our contributions to society....help people deal with themselves.

LEE said...

alabmw,

thats right, nobody has the right to spread lies ANYWHERE....and that applies to both sides in this particular incident.

LEE said...

brent,

for those who believe the pangandaman story, its fact...for those who dont, its fiction.

the same comment was made of bambee's story.

what i find so exciting over all these posts is that the Filpino is such a great story teller....imagine all the reactions! This is exactly the stuff that movies are made of.

Brent,

This might sound so cliche and I know you have heard this line a thousand times but for your sake, I'll say it again. There is always two sides of a story. One side may say things in favor of them and vice versa. What I am pointing out here is before we come up with conclusions and take sides, lets get facts straight first. Even if the golf club did not released their official statement on what really happened but there should be a substantial reason why the De La Paz's were evicted, banned and warned not to play again in their premises. I am not concluding here but I guess Bambee's blog is one-sided. No wonder Atty. Fortun and the De La Paz family are seriously thinking of an out-of-court settlement. I wonder why.

As between the story of Bambee dela Paz, which came out THE SAME DAY and the story of the Pangandamans, which came out MORE THAN A WEEK AFTER, which has more credibility?

Common sense dictates that the Pangandamans had A LOT OF TIME to prepare their own version of the story, strategize on the plot of the story, iron out the kinks, include the right "facts" to support their side and to persuade/coerce witnesses to speak on their behalf. Meanwhile, the blog entry of Bambee, which came out on the same day, is a personal narration of the events as it happened. It is unlikely that she even knew of the effect of her blog entry.

Under the rules of evidence, statements that are RES GESTAE are given a high degree of credibility. What are res gestae statements? Those which are made naturally, spontaneously and made during the course of an event or immediately after. Because of the timing of the statement, there is little room for fabrication.

Bambee's blog is RES GESTAE. How could she have manipulated the story when she wrote it within a FEW HOURS of it happening? A person in her situation would write it as she remembered it. There would be NO TIME to twist the facts of the story.

On the other hand, the Pangandaman story, which came SO MANY DAYS AFTER, appears to have been edited so many times, tailored-fit for publication, and sprinkled with the elements to gain the attention and sympathy of the people. What do you expect if you have the time and resources to concoct a rebuttal-story?

It's frustrating to still gullible people, who do not apply COMMON SENSE in reading the accounts of the parties involved. COMMON SENSE please.

How about benefit of doubt, Mr Caddie? Isn't that more common sense? The truth will set us all free. And we hang those think they are right, even if they didnt know that they are wrong.

We just couldn't go out there besmirching people and later on just say "oppssss! sorry".

The court will hear on Facts not RES GESTAE.

Absence of malice is no excuse. We want blood and meat.

pulisnapogi said...

caddie,

i really agree with you about res gestae. so going by the original blog of bambee, then it is really true that “My mom had a miniature baseball bat with her, and my older brother had a real one, and they lunge to attack.”

"and right at the very start, they looked as if they could kill."

those are bambees words in res gestae. so what now?

Unknown said...

caddie,

so you call it COMMON SENSE in believing "right away" what you first heard from one party, without hearing the side of the other party? Without gathering evidence, facts?

brent said...

I agree with Caddie 100% that Bambee's the one telling the truth here. Manufactured stories on the part of the Pangandamans... and Valley club is also liable as they could have prevented the second fight to occur. Now of course they have to side with the Pangandamans to cover themselves as they don't want to get in trouble themselves.

LEE said...

caddie,

thanks for sharing.

you've made a valid point.

dino,

just for the sake of discussion, if you do not believe the story of one side, but accept the story of the other side, how does judgement become intelligent?

am not saying who to believe although I do have my personal belief on who the bad guys are here.

truth may be viewed as contingent on convention, perception or even social experience....likewise, truth may even be consensual.

while this issue is soon to undergo deliberation, i would rather that we now dwell on the experience and how we can use it to improve not only our lives, but others as well....we dont need hecklers di ba?

LEE said...

pulis na pogi,

at this point, i think everybody has already stated their piece on the issue.

i think its now time to get into a discussion on lessons learned and how we can apply them.

LEE said...

brent,

thats an interesting post you made.

question : should valley golf be held liable for the incident?

its akin to saying that as owner of your house, shouldnt you have adequate facilities / security systems / personnel to ensure that your day-to-day runs without incident?

or as mayor of your town, shouldnt you have a structure in place that would assure peace and order?

thanks for the contribution.

Lee - being a businessman and a home owner myself, there is a difference between running a business and running a home.....hope this helps.

Lee,
Judgement is intelligent when you get into facts, hear both sides, hear the report of Valley Golf, ask witnesses. Unlike other comments here who just wanted to cover their ears and do not want to hear the other side's story, read both story and see who has a more complete and detailed accounts of the incident...such as why did Bambee not mention in the 3rd paragraph WHY DID things get heated up, WHO made things get heated up? About her brothers arriving with baseball bats, about them hitting their balls while the Pangandamans are still on the fairway? Those are very important details. Then ask witnesses or other members of Valley Golf. So you know who is telling ALL

Yes, I play at Valley Golf and I have asked witnesses and friends from there....surprisingly more than that, I learned that the DelaPazes were arrogant also with other golfers there. Go and ask members who had past encounters with them.

Thats why I said facts, witnesses, etc....because thats what I did, unlike some bloggers who commented here.

LEE said...

brent,

good comment.

the situations may vary, but in the end, it about keeping things in order, di ba?

the fewer the hassles, the lesser the complications and life becomes more pleasant.

LEE said...

dino,

great! always nice to hear from a fellow golfer.....we should get together sometime and swap notes.

yup, have heard from the old man dela paz from fellow golfers and sabi nga daw, he isnt exactly well liked....so you can say that he really had it coming to him....bad attitude daw and nakatagpo pa ng tao na di aatras, perfect formula for having the smackdown laid on you.

on the other hand, muslim friends of mine shared some less than savory comments about the pangandamans.

like i've said in previous posts, lampas na ako dyan sa issues related to personalities....at this point, away mayaman na lang yan and thats why its gotten all the attention....if this were a fight between dalawang siga sa kalye, it may not even merit as much as tv patrol coverage.

i've heard both sides already and as much as i would like to call it a "draw," am afraid thats up to the courts to decide....if both parties decide to settle this amicably, that too would be good.

in the end, we should all emerge as better people from this experience.

yes sir I agree with you too about the attitude of the Pangandamans :) I am from Mindanao...Lanao del Norte and I had some personal encounters with this Hussein. Former students in Xavier U in CDO can also attest to that :) But past is past (at nakaganti narin naman ako hehe). Dont get me wrong, Im a Christian from Mindanao and I am one of those who are very mad at arrogant Muslims in our place. But the topic now is about that unfortunate incident in Valley Golf and not about religion or ethnic differences:)

i hope your family comes out of this incident whole and stronger. here's a piece on this--i hope this helps to pressure PGMA to take a look at her political allies and evaluate their stance towards ordinary Filipinos http://datelinedavao.blogspot.com/2009/01/let-pangandamans-pay-for-what-they-did.html

Lee - I absolutely agree with you that it's all about keeping things in order, unfortunately it's more easier said than done and that's the reason why the law of the land was created. In situations such as this, the law should always prevail as no one is supposed to be above the law.

Unknown said...

I know they have their own side and point of view of this situation. If you were in this situation, whether you are a Dela Paz or a Pangandaman, you would only do what the situation calls for and both sides will be rightly judged on the actions they have taken.

If I were there I might even end up acting like a DelaPaz because for me, rules ARE rules. Given that they have those in golf then there might be some rules that were broken that led Papa Dela Paz to act like such.

But I would act like a Pangandaman too, probably I would request respect from the other person considering that it wasthe Christmas season (cmon give them a break) and knowing that they tried to talk it out with the other party did not work, I would certainly exercise my power. I damn deserve respect.

We all can choose to share our own views and opinions on this matter but in the end, I am only commenting my own on Bambee's blog which she could choose to delete anytime. So all's fair in love and war and that bottomline - man is unhappy because of sin.. think about it.

LEE said...

dino,

bro, ethnicity was never an issue as far as i am concerned, it was the incident itself and ano ba ang katuturan nito....

remember, what i said earlier, if this were a fight between 2 unknowns na pasaway, would it have merited attention? would we even care?

alitan mayaman nga....they are now bringing it to court (and to media) dahil parehong "nasaktan ang damdamin." now i ask, is that all really necessary? again, if these were just plain folk, baka hanggang opisina yan ng barangay captain at baka namura pa sila ng kapitan dahil sa kayabangan.

if you ask me, parties from both camps deserve to be penalized for being either obnoxious or over reactive.

lesson learned : humility, patience and the use of sound judgement.

hmmmm....another thought, baka pwede na ipagbawal ang pagdadala ng bodyguard para mawala ang superiority complex...or train the bodyguards that the first line of defense is pacification rather than confrontation.

another thought, maybe those who wish to join golf clubs be subject to psychological examination so that only the mentally and emotionally fit can play.

not pointing a finger at anybody ha?

You see IKAW YUNG NAGPAPANSIN DITO SA BLOG NA ITO TELLING SOME LIES HERE AND THERE...

Im not suprised at all if you devote all your time replying, rebutting and defending your boss (THE PANGANDEMONS) on all our mails bacause we know it will happen. Basically you just want to sow confusion on delapaz symphatizers to make them think twice.

I myself would wish that Pangandamans are not sitting any government positions lalo na sa province sa Mindanao. Saka ano naman ang proof mo na isa lang kami nung mga minention mong names? Matanong pa kita...ano naman proof mo na ang DelaPaz ang tama? Did you weigh all things? Compare both versions? Did you ask witnesses? Ang alam ko nagsisigaw ka lang dyan eh..making nonsense remarks without even hearing the other side, without knowing witnesse's accounts. Yan ba ang may sense? Covering your ears and eyes so not to be able to see the whole story and just wanted to read/hear one side? Tsk tsk grow up, man.

Caddie,
You ask for an exercise of the use of common sense.Fine. How about the fact that the de la Paz family has been expelled and banned by their own peers from their own golf club. Doesn't common sense dictate that the worst kind of indictment is that which come from your very own peers? As I have said in my previous commentary on this blog, unless you are a golfer and a member of an exclusive golf club then you will never understand the nuances of golf etiquettes and rules which the de la Paz family has so grievously breached. I suggest you get the names of the very upright and prominent members of the Board of Directors of the Valley Golf and Country club who all unanimously decided to expel Daniel de la Paz and banned Bambee and Bino from the premises of their own club. After doing that, then come back to us and talk about your brand of common sense.

I cant think of a father who does this in front of his son. The person was a mayor. Bad examples to teach to a son ... and daughter.

I believe that people must read the other side of the story.

The people involved had opted to take this conflict to court. Unfortunate that one side is trying to provide all the "facts" and everyone is judging already. UNFAIR...foul :(

In Korina today the counsel of the valley golf seemed sided with the PANGANDAMAN'S, i just wished he was neutral about the issue. Oh, maybe he was scared about the fact that they are POLITICIANS.
Whatever or whoever started the brawl it doesnt matter, i think that politician failed to behave appropriately in public, he was acting arrogantly like an appalling 10year old boy just because the DELA PAZ doesnt know who he was.So what if he is a MAYOR?The STIGMA of being in POWER is just in his head. I thought politicians also served as a "peacemaker",but instead they are asking for a PUBLIC APOLOGY,what???? hellooo!!!Yeah you're right the world gone crazzzzzy, in this matter i'm not proud to be a filipino.
The 14 year old dela paz is one of the filipino golfers who can give PRIDE to our country, the pangandaman's just gave SHAME to the whole world.
Now that this issue is around the inernet, the whole world condemned the PANGANDAMAN'S, that's for sure.
I am terribly worried about the dela paz family, just get extra careful who knows they'll hire gunmen to hurt your family...remember they have GUNS!
Whatever!i believed the only powerful in this world is UP THERE - HE WILL not forsake us,HE'S more powerful than the pangandaman's.
All my prayers and support is with the DELA PAZ family. Take care AND THANK YOU.

wow, this is totally fucked up. The yelling back and forth, is that Tagalog? Could you translate what was being yelled (in parenthesis or something), to give a better picture of what was going on during the exchanges?

How about that point of view from the south. A small time mayor from a muslim town south of the Philippines treated so badly in media and blogs by some equally small brained elitist tagalogs from the north. From the south, this is clearly one of those moments. Intimidation by superiority complexed North. The South found some reason to rejoice over this case. Finally a moment together.

What about that other view, a politician -got figured in brawl. Now its his fault because he is in politics. Opppssss, clasic profiling. Im surprised really nobody died yet to make the picture perfect.

How many more different views out there? No matter how truthful both sides are, the fact remains that for the filipinos, it already has become a classic.

Trust me when I say that in the end, it is just about who Fucked Up big time.

A word of advice. Always listen to the lawyers. -Seal that lips or get incriminated-

What about you???what is your proof that bambee is lying??? through Valley golf club's bias statement saying that they expelled the dela paz? I think you're the one who needs growing up kiddo.

If you guys whose objective is to sow confusion on others mind I think you wont succeed. I suggest that it would be better if you make a parallel blog saying na NAAGRABYADO SI MAYOR PANGANDEMON ETC ETC, then do it.... and lets see sino ang makikisimpatya sa inyo.

statements like this by ABU is what makes this case so interesting:

"May i refer you to the post of bambee. this is my proof and will believe the lady no matter what you say"

It is amazing how people believe what is thrown at them, even without hearing the other side. Judgment is made so quickly that no matter what evidence is laid out, the mob mentality prevails and blind loyalties are formed.

What the media portrays will always be gobbled up by people like ABU who don't bother to study the facts and make a logical decision.

Amazing!!!!

Other side of Valley brawl?

Beth Celis
Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines—After Valley Golf and Country Club member Delfin de la Paz was suspended by the board for the mauling incident involving him and his two children and the Pangandaman family of Lanao Del Norte, I thought that an explanation from my former classmate at St. Joseph’s College was in order.

My classmate, whose daughter is a Jungolfer based in the United States, had frantically called me a few hours after the incident for what she called “authentic documentation” by a member of the media.

She said she wanted me to get the facts before they get muddled through acts of intimidation and possibly, bribery.

She claimed her daughter saw the incident and told her about it.

I had a small item in this column two days after that call. However, although I got a copy of the blog from De la Paz’s 18-year-old daughter, who gave a blow-by-blow account of the mauling incident, I never got to write in-depth or lengthily about the case since the other newspaper sections had already picked up the story in a big way.

But with the recent developments—the De la Paz family is now appearing to be the villain instead of the victim—I had to get back to my classmate for some enlightenment, more than anything.

* * *

My classmate was horrified by my insinuation that De la Paz might be at fault. But why would he be suspended by the Valley Golf board, which I presume to be a level-headed, respectable group?

Had I, too, been brainwashed by the false accounts I’ve been hearing and reading, she wanted to know.

“They’ve twisted everything around. Nabaligtad na lahat. It’s unbelievable! Except for a 10-year-old boy who bore witness to De la Paz’s testimony, everyone is now scared to step forward and speak the truth,” she lashed.

“The Valley Golf board based its decision to suspend on the testimony of a caddie who said that it was De la Paz who started it all.”

While the 56-year-old De la Paz is pursuing his criminal charges in court against the Pangandamans, my classmate said De la Paz has avoided the fairways since the incident.

“As of now, they are unable to play the game of golf. The whole family has been so traumatized by the incident, most especially the 14-year-old Bino, whose ear was practically ripped off by a strong blow delivered by one of the bodyguards,” she said.

“Bino was on his knees begging them to stop beating his father,” added my classmate.

“My heart goes out to them. Now they’re even on the defensive. They’re not haughty and arrogant as pictured. I know because I’ve known them personally for years.”

Just like many others, I am quite confused by the different stories coming out. I would like to think that the club has been thorough enough and fair before deciding to expel the de la Paz's. Does this mean that Bambee's blog has misled myself and the many, many other golfers who believed in her original blog? How foolish of us to believe this after all...

If you are telling the truth, tell it to the club. If you can prove you are right, then we will gladly support you. Otherwise, what next, Bambee?

Personally, if I were to face such a situation, whether I am in the right wouldn't really matter. To me, I'd rather just walk away and avoid the confrontation, physical injury, etc... It's just pointless. Sabi nga ng mga tao sa club - buti nga, nakahanap din sila ng katapat!

Oh well...

verum said...

Fed-Up,

You must be a Valley Golf club member too if you have heard the statement "BUTI NGA - NAKAHANAP DIN SILA NG KATAPAT".

As for the De la Paz jungolfers, both Bambee and Bino were considered by the club to given a lifting of the ban. This was initiated by some directors who saw the bright future of the two in the sport. Sad to say the father's arrogance once again came into play and instead of hearing what the club would say he threatened to sue the club.

As Fed-Up says, right or wrong at this point is pointless. The least he could have done is to work on the golfing future of the kids.

How sad.

Marami nang "pala" na pinakalat ang mga Pangandaman para mag comment sa blog na ito to discredit the account of Bambee about the incident. They say the de la Paz' started the fight. Honestly, if you were 56 years old and tagging along 2 of your minor kids would you start a fistfight with 5 men carrying golf clubs? If you were a public official at may mayabang na naghahanap ng away, bubugbugin mo ba? Ask youself, "What would a reasonable person do if you were in the same situation?". How should a public official react to this situation? Malakas ang imagination ang mga "hakot" ng mga Pangandaman pero mas matalino ngayon ang Pilipino. Please do not lose faith in the power of the blogger. Continue to forward this account of the incident to everyone. We will not stop until these piss poor excuses for so called public servants and their lackeys are removed from office. E-mail GMA to do something. Boycott Valley Golf for failing to stop the incident and taking sides. I posted your link and e-mailed it to my yahoo group.

Unknown said...

If you have really read all the comments here, from the first to the last page, I have already mentioned that I too am an enemy of the Pangandaman. I had bad encounters with Hussein here in Mindanao. If you are going to ask me, I am from Mindanao, from Bukidnon, CDO, Iligan, Marawi, Pagadian, Zamboanga. And I am one of the Christians na galit sa mga arroganteng muslims.

But that is not the issue here so I am onl dealing with that particular golf incident.

You are asking, kung sinong matinong ama ang maghahamon ng away kasama ang mga minor na anak nya? May alam ako...at karamihan sa mga Valley Golf members na naka-personal experience with the DelaPaz. Sino kamo?

I have done my part, I have asked Valley Golf and its members about the DelaPaz'. Ikaw may ginawa ka ba bago mag-comment? Your comment is just based on the blog here. One-sided. Matino ba yan? Tapos pag may kumontra wala kang ibang masabi kundi "pakawala" kuno ng Pangandaman? Matinong pagiisip ba yan?

Unknown said...

@nightfly,

Also you are talking about the minors....halatang hindi ka nagbabsa ng mga past comment. At halatang wala kang alam basta basta nalang mag-cocomment.

Bino attacks you with a golf club. You didnt know he is 14 years old. He is 5'6" and 140lbs. What would you do???? Would you ask him for a time-out first and ask him his age? Now even if he tells you he is 14-years old, would you believe right away? How would you know he really is 14 years old considering his height and weight bigger than you? I mean anybody can say he is 14 years old!

Now even if he is telling the truth that he is 14 yrs old....would you still not defend yourself and let him hit you with his golf club? What if kung natamaan ka ng matindi hindi ka na magising? Okay lang kase 14-yr-old lang sya? Hypocrite! GET REAL!

If I am the person Bino is going to attack with a swing of his golf club, I will surely defend myself, do something even before he hits me. Assuming I survive his first attack, I will surely punch him real hard in the face knock him down or cripple him to make sure he cannot swing that golf club again at me. Then sa korte na kami maghaharap. Remember....that 14-yr-old kid, who in the first place during the brawl you didnt know the age, is 140lbs and 5'6"!

Well lets say "kahit na, dapat hindi papatol pag 14-yrs-old". Matanong kita...wala ka bang alam o wala ka ba naririnig na mga holdaper or snatcher na 14-yrs old? Ano gagawin mo pag isang 14-yr-old eh hoholdapin ka or papasuking ka sa bahay nyo sa gabi para magnakaw or patayin kayo? Patatawarin mo dahil 14-yr-old pa sya? GET REAL!

AGAIN, remember....that 14-yr-old kid, who in the first place during the brawl you didnt know his age, is 140lbs and 5'6".

I dont know with you guys, baka mga weakling kayo nung 14 pa kayo, but when I was that age, I am very aware what trouble or damage I am capable of.

The fact is the Pangandamans as public officials are held to a higher standard. They should to be good examples to the citizenry. Is this a snippet of how their dynasty stays in power? Yes there are 2 sides of the story but to any "reasonable person", which story is more plausible. Bambee's story was on the web right after the incident providing no room for manipulation or strategizing by a PR man or lawyer. Physical evidence shows who got beaten up. Twice! The "pala's" infecting this blog wants us to believe that the Pangandaman story was the real account of what happened. Some sow just enough doubt to have others paralyzed to remain indecisive or not to take any action. They use golfing rules, who started it first, the elder de laPaz' was a prick, Bino was a 140 lb madman.....etc. All smoke and mirrors. The Pangandamans as public officials should get fired for responding to a very minor situation the way they did. Twice!! Good filipinos know in their heart how this went down. Blog on.

PS. I could just hear this famous line "Hinde mo bah 'ko nakikilalahhhhhhhh !!!???" lol

Here is Mr. Alex Magno's column titked First Person on today's issue of The Philippine Star:

Self-regulation
FIRST PERSON By Alex Magno Updated January 20, 2009 12:00 AM

It was every professional journalist’s nightmare: bloggers taking over a story, running it without the facts, twisting it with the standard emotions of the moment, and, soon enough, a lynching mob set loose on cyberspace.

After that bizarre brawl the day after Christmas at the Valley Golf Club, the first recounting of the incident on the internet was done by a party to the incident. Bambee de la Paz’s version of the incident involving members of her family and the Pangandamans, was hysterical, agitated, foul-mouthed and, and subsequent investigation of the affair proved, grossly inaccurate.

Grossly inaccurate is, in fact, an understatement. She attributed to Sec. Nasser Pangandaman a statement seeping with hubris: Kilala mo ba ako?

As every witness to the event testified, it was not the Agrarian Reform secretary who made that statement. It was made by Delfin de la Paz as he poked Pangandaman’s son with an umbrella. This was after the younger Pangandaman graciously allowed the de la Paz’s to overtake them on the course.

Bloggers of every stripe were soon on the case, none with any careful inquiry into what actually happened. They took Bambee de la Paz’s version of what happened hook, line and sinker. All of them were entrapped in the powerful narrative of the powerful inflicting themselves on the powerless.

Soon, that standard narrative flowed out of cyberspace and spilled into the old media. Broadcasters and newspaper commentators were soon echoing the Bambee line and crucifying the Pangandamans.

It was bad enough that there was so much irresponsibility in the blogs. What was worse was when journalists echoed the unverified version on the blogs and jumped on the case with the same gross irresponsibility. Indeed, with the same unrestrained commentary that used to be the domain only of the most obnoxious bloggers.

Last week, the Valley Golf Club released its decision on the incident after careful investigation of all the witnesses. The conclusion reached was that the unseemly brawl in the golf course was caused by Delfin de la Paz and aggravated by his children.

The de la Paz family was banned from the course for life. Secretary Pangandaman’s two sons were likewise banned. The Secretary himself, a member of that golf club, was suspended for two years because his guests were involved in the brawl.

Most golfers agree with the wisdom of the Valley Golf Club’s decision.

The first time I heard about the incident and read the first commentaries on the internet, including Bambee de la Paz’s, I felt there was something odd about the initial version of what happened. As a golfer myself, I know that there is really no way a flight of players playing in front could possibly aggravate the flight behind them. It is the flight behind that could aggravate the ones in front: which is by hitting balls before the fairway was clear.

Hitting balls while the fore players were still within range is the most indecent thing a golfer could do on the course. It is not only impolite. It is dangerous. Golf balls hit from the tee could maim or even kill a player on the fairway.

As the investigation did reveal, the de la Pazes hit balls at the Pangandamans. That act alone merits suspension at the very least. Pangandaman Jr., instead of complaining about the indecency of the de la Pazes in fact allowed them to play through. But instead of thanking Pangandaman Jr. for the gracious act, Delfin de la Paz verbally assaulted them and then poked an umbrella.

I played Nasser Pangandaman several times. He is a low key person and is a happy golfer if there ever was one. Bambee’s inaccurate version of what happened was entirely out of character.

On the other hand, many golfers and a few golf course employees I have talked to felt that Valley Golf Club’s findings about Delfin de la Paz’s reported behavior was completely in character. The fellow apparently has not endeared himself to caddies and other players.

Going back to the issue I began with: in the light of Valley Golf Club’s findings, some of the journalists who had joined the bandwagon of hate against the Pangandamans have gone on record apologizing for coming on the case without the facts. Some apologized in their columns, others on a number of broadcast programs.

What I have not seen is a single ranting blogger from that lynching mob on the internet writing an apology for arriving at wrong conclusions in the absence of the facts.

In the “old” media, there are mechanisms in place that restrain professional journalists from going on an irresponsible binge. They may be imperfect mechanisms, but they are there. Anyone unfairly treated has some avenue of recourse.

To deserve their freedoms, the “old” media has mechanisms of self-regulation in addition to the code of ethics journalists are expected by their peers to live by. When, as in the Valley golf case, journalists and commentators were clearly misled, they apologize.

There is also the rule of equal space. Journalists as a matter of standard procedure should try to get the other party’s version of events. Or else, they are entitled to equal airing of their side when the main story if slanted to favor one side.

There are no such mechanism of restraint in “blogosphere.” Most of the bloggers hide under pseudonyms and are not answerable to editorial boards. Some have taken this as a license for irresponsible commentary.

But that should no be the case. The citizens of cyberspace should assume the responsibility for self-regulation either by criticizing an offensive and unfair commentary, by checking the facts themselves and by refusing to pass on irresponsible content. The freedom in this sphere can be deserved only if its citizens are vigilant on the side of fairnes

nightfly,

you said that politicians should be held to a higher standard - I agree. But in the company of decent diplomatic people!!!

Your proposal is that after DeLaPaz whacked the mayor with an umbrella and started stabbing the mayor with the same umbrella, the mayor should have maintained a higher standard? If your answer is yes, then he did!!!! It was his younger brother, Hussein, who is not a politician who threw the first punch!!!

Bino swung his driver at the mayor and the mayor simply defended himself. Sorry, but I think only a stupid person who does not think at all will reason out that even after being swung at with a driver the politician needs to be held to a higher standard. Even if you a the president of the country, when there is a clear and present danger to your own body, you are expected to react to protect yourself.

Nightfly, your arguments don't seem to hold water. Get the facts straight first. There were no body guards nor guns pulled out and pointed at anybody. In fact is was the De la paz mother and elder brother who came in with visible weapons.

Just stating what I think.

hahaha do you have any idea SINO TALAGA ANG NAGSABI NG

"di mo ako kilala???!!"

hindi lang sa golf incident na yan kundi maraming beses na nya tinatanong yan sa ibang golfers na niyayabangan nya. Go ahead ask golfers around na kilala si DelaPaz at malalaman mo kung sino ang may sabi ng "di mo ako kilala??!!"

the you get the picture why this thing happened.

also, try to investigate also kung talaga bang bumunot sila ng baril at tinutok? Alam mo ba buong pangyayari? Ask Bambee why she didnt include in her story about her mother and brothers arriving as resbak carrying baseball bats...thats what provoked the bodyguards to bring in their guns (pero hindi nila tinutok). And that incident before the brawl where the DelaPaz kids intentionally hit their balls towards the Pangandamans while they are still in the fairways to get even with them (where a child nearly got hit).

You see...madami kang hindi alam kse kulang ang kwento ni Bambee hindi kumpleto.

nightfly,

congrats for living up to the name: utak langaw.

you wrote, "Susmaryosep, lima sila may mga pistola pang ibinunot."

now let me ask you what cases did atty fortun came up with?

let me quote the news reports:

"Lawyer Raymond Fortun, the dela Paz family’s attorney, said Masiu, Lanao del Sur Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., his brother, Hussein, are facing two counts of slight physical injuries and two counts of child abuse for mauling dela Paz and his 14-year-old son, Bino, over a golf course altercation.

Three of the Pangandamans’ bodyguards were charged with one count of slight physical injury. The criminal complaints were filed before the Antipolo City prosecutor’s office.”

where are the guns then? don’t tell that fortun suddenly turned so stupid that he forgot it? if there are guns in there, there should have been additional charges of "grave threats" just like what the pangandamans charged the de la pazes for bringing in a baseball bat and a bladed weapon. knowing fortun, he could have even added attempted homicide or attempted murder.

i am really surprised that with the so many eyes of the fly, you failed to see that. oh i forget, scientists found that a fly's eyes can only see so far. in other words, myopic!

Sabihin natin mali mali nga mag laro ng golf yang mga Pangendemons na yan, who asked to be mauled in the first place?

You will reap what you sow. Hopefully justice is part of the reaping (of course to the party who deserves it). Mey pag-asa pa para sa napikon. Pero yung nag sisinungaling, pipikonin LoL!

Once again, a public servant is held at a higher standard. The people expect an honest days work. That he abide and uphold the law. Thus becoming a model citizen for the community to emulate. This are the very basics of public service. It does not matter who started the fight. It was not a matter of life and death. Sabihin natin na mayabang nga itong matandang de la Paz. As a public official your "peace cannot be disturbed". Very good question my little innocent Dinoy. In the elder de la Paz mind he had a legitimate complaint when he came up to the Mayor. The Mayor's ego got hurt and got into a shouting match effectively escelating the tension. Your DAR Sec. stood by like a tree stump doing nothing. Then the s*%&t hits the fan. The Mayor's pride and ego was so hurt he beats the de la Paz' twice. The Mayor instead of stepping back and handling it properly decided to let his ego and pride get the best of him. He could have diffused the situation but resorted to excessive force instead. If I was in the Mayor's shoes I would have apologized for the misunderstanding and invited the old man for a cup of java. If he was still belligerent I would walk away. If he pokes me with an umbrella, I will order 2 of my bodyguards to restrain the old man. One of the bodyguards will call the clubhouse to call the local police. The last bodyguard will hold my umbrella. Quick and simple isn't it if you don't mind how high the other guy pisses. Thank you for all your responses. I'd love to stay but I've watered down my examples to the level of some of the "hakot's" here. I cannot do any better.

YES I AGREE WITH THIS.

In fact we should have hang them upside down with ants scrawling their face.

Here in Caraga Region, Gloria Arroyo's political allies are the ones ruling on who will first cut the trees indiscriminately in teh forest, mine the coppers, nickel and gold and cut kickbacks until government resources bleeds dry.

Relatives of politicians here are the ones who are illegal loggers in the likes of Loloc Tiu, Romero, Dario Otaza and many others who became overnight milionaires

They destroy the forest like no end causing disasters after disasters like floods (read news on this at www.mindanao.com) in cahoots with corrupt government and DENR officials.

Do we have an end to this? None is on sight at this moment because unenlightened Filipinos who sell their votes to illegal loggers politicians keep and continue to vote these asshole Pinoy trapos

Ultimately, how we react makes the consequence from the action in the first place.

There are ways to react. Some are like the Dalai Lama, others the opposite. However the consequence of any reaction is not a sole burden to the one who does it.

That is why we have the courts for these matters. Play Gandhi if you want. However, don't frown on consequences afterward.

Even the Dalai Lama knows the differences between gnashed ears and bullet holes.

Apathy towards the facts perhaps can be a reaction. Remember, there can be no smoke if there is no fire. And lastly, stay out of the kitchen if just being passionate of about golf. Mind you there are golfs that kills and golfs that the doesn't. Be grateful if you just had the later.

By the way, the liars will be hanged on a cross upside-down. Im hoping that theres no out of court settlement to this case.

We do not only have short of memory as we have lots of memory lapses but most Filipinos wanted to become politicians themselves to steal not to serve.

During French revolution they do not only hanged greedy politicians upside down but cut heads as well.

Never mind cutting the deads I wanted them swarmed by piranhas.

I agree with Manassas Benedict coz my wife is from Caraga Region.

Illegal logging is rampant there, law enforcers. the fixcals, corrupt DENR men including the media particularly BOMBO RADTO BUTUAN who claimed to be protector of people but its not true.

Here's the thing, and its a sad reality:

* year in, year out, people talk
about what ails this country
(ex: corruption, poor educational
system, etc, etc, etc) and yet
very little is done about it.

* we get to hear so many excuses
for why our country's problems
have not been solved, then offer
us words of consolation....as if
that were enough.

* we know who the damn buggers are,
but we continue to allow them to
run roughshod over us.

its not just government, but even those on the other side of the fence, its all blah, blah, blah and nothing else....at this point, i would support somebody who can really say that he is there for the country and nobody else.

That's the sad part of it Filipinos knew what the problems our country have but the problem is nobody got the nerves and the courage to do it. We have so many new bright & good guys that enter our government to serve but after a few months they were infected by the rotten system that's make them act like a robot who just follow and even imitate their master , they got immune to the system that even you got the right medicine it won't heal the rotteness and the only thing that can heal it, is thru amputation or operation to heal the system. These good and bright people with new good intention to serve are known as academician (good in academics)...later on they became tactician (good in dirty tricks) then become musician (they sing same tune with the master when there issues)...then become a full pledge politician ( an immunized senile, dirty playing tactician with the purpose of earning more money by bleeding the country & the filipinos)

Nightfly said...

This is what we can all agree on, a public official failed to properly respond to an irate citizen and when the situation escalated he used excessive force instead. The Pangandaman's betrayed the trust we put on them as public servants. After the mayor responded to the allegedly arrogant de la Paz with "Put*#%g ina mo, RIN !!!", this is where sh*t hits the fan. The rest is both parties responding to this initial contact.

verum said...

nightfly,

Why will I agree with your illogical, uneducated assessment of the incident?

How did the Mayor betray the trust his constituents placed on him? They voted him to lead and steer their small city in the south. Are you saying that if someone physically harms the mayor, his constituents also expects him not to react accordingly?

Please do not shove your narrow minded mob mentality on us who study, listen, and logically assess and consider all angles of an issue.

Nightfly said...

Yes Verum, constituents expect public servants to act accordingly. A citizen trusts that their public servants would treat them with respect. That the public servant will use all knowledge and resources to resolve a citizen complaint. Public service is a 24/7 job, from Batanes to Tawi-tawi. The Mayor of Misu reacted with excessive force and with contempt towards a citizen. DAR Sec. is just as bad for his instigating and failure to intervene. They should both be fired.

and logically assessed

all angles of this issue.

please list all your sources, all the literatures and publications, the names of the people you interviewed and all the angles you considered.

verum said...

Nightfly,

Oh my goodness, do you even realize the line of reasoning you are using? Do you mean to tell me that I can walk up to a any mayor in this country, whack that mayor with an umbrella, shout expletives at him and I EXPECT him not to defend himself. I provoke him and he should not react because he is a public servant? Dude, he is a human being first and foremost.

Your anger towards politicians is getting the better of you. Sorry but this is the last time I will respond to your comments, not worth it.

verum said...

greensidebunker,

As i mentioned in a previous comment, I am a member of valley.
I do not know any member of either party. You ask how I studied listened and assessed????.... by listening to the people who actually witnessed the incident. By talking to jungolfers who play with Bino who all concur that the boy is arrogant, by gathering information from both De La Paz and the Pangandamans when they were officially interviewed for their statements. By NOT JUDGING ANYONE...until I heard both sides.

I do not mean to sound smart as you said. I am just stating a fact.

Nightfly said...

Verun,

Yes, we all EXPECT the mayor to DEFEND himself. The 4 bodyguards were there to make sure of that. If provoked he should act ACCORDINGLY. This means a proper response to a certain situation. One qualification or training ideal to a public servant is to be able to deal with different people in different situations. This is called diplomacy. The mayor did not defend himself. He used excessive force to respond to an arrogant old man allegedly swinging an umbrella and a boy allegedly swinging a golf club. Let us not forget the mayor et al attacked TWICE. Valley Golf's decision is entirely theirs. If the courts admit that as evidence so be it. If the case is settled out of court so be it. The fact remains the Mayor of Misao, the DAR Cabinet Secretary, the under achieving Hussein and the moron bodyguards, beat up an old man and a boy over a case of "golf rage". I am not angry at politicians. I just hate public servants who are ignorant of the job they are supposed to do, who abuse their privileges and steal from the people. Verum, thank you for letting me have the last word. I am sure you have been enlightened.

greensidebunker said...

verum,

thank you for clarifying your methodology. Not very different from most of us.

can you share us exactly what part in Bambee's blog did she make up maliciously, or which part of the story was not true according to your research?

although Bino's arrogance towards other golfers has nothing to do with the justification of getting sucker punched, can you mention to us what exactly these jungolfers said about his arrogance. Any particular stories you can share, some of the kids he beat up, or golf rules that he broke just because he wanted to or he can?

I play a little golf and whenever I score in the 70's or hit a 300 (I really can!) yard drive, I boast a little bit. Not that I'm arrogant, those things can make your blood run and heart beat a little faster.

verum said...

Greenside,

Hitting a 300yard drive and boasting about it...I don't call that arrogance...bragging rights lang yun. I would do the same.

But being in a jungolf tournament and landing in the rough where a tournament marshal needs to do a ruling and said marshal takes time to clarify the ruling, then Bino curses the marshal for being inept!!! As in P***NG @%$ MO... is that not arrogance?

No wonder Jungolf is now making moves to actually expel him too.

I do not intend to change your minds about who you believe or not. I am just stating facts. If you want to believe Bambee's blog, do so.... you have every right to do so. Listing down what I know is false would take too long.

brent said...

Verum - you said "I do not intend to change your minds about who you believe or not. I am just stating facts". I think it should be paraphrase as what you think you believe and not facts. What you heard from Valley golf may not be the facts as well.

Unknown said...

ok let me ask you and answer honestly, which would you believe.... those people inside the Valley Golf and thos who know the DelaPazes, those who had past encounters with them, those admin of the club who suspended a very important member (Im referring to the DelaPaz, remember they are very important members of the Club because they are golf champs).....or the story you just read from a blog???

which would you prefer to believe as facts?

verum said...

brent,

I know they are facts because they were cross referenced and confirmed by more than one witness.

Who is the witness of Bambee? Herself?

verum said...

dino,

well said. the blog simply fed a mob hungry to hang a politician.

brent said...

Verum- I am trying hard to believe you and I am pretty sure most of the other bloggers here. So you're telling us that according to the so called facts you gathered. It was Bambee and her family that mob the Mayor and their four heavily armed bodyguards? I'd fire those bodyguards if I were those politicians.

verum said...

Brent,

That is where the problem lies.

You are still dwelling in the idea that a mob "attacked" de la paz, that bodyguards were involved, that guns were drawn, that people were beaten to a pulp.

None of these happened to either party!

Was there an incident - yes - but there was no mob, there were no bodyguards, there were no drawing of guns, nobody was beaten to a pulp.

Read the account of another blogger who voiced out the official report of Valley, it looks very unbiased.

So, just because Bambee said there were bodyguards you assume they were involved? Just because they were bodyguards there should be a gun, so guns were pulled out and pointed at someone? Just because there were bodyguards, it was a mob attack? Sorry to burst your bubble, but the above never happened. Unfortunately, this blog made you think that it happened that way.

brent said...

Verum -
You said "You are still dwelling in the idea that a mob "attacked" de la paz, that bodyguards were involved, that guns were drawn, that people were beaten to a pulp"
This is not true.

You said "None of these happened to either party!"
Really?

You said "Was there an incident - yes - but there was no mob, there were no bodyguards, there were no drawing of guns"

No bodyguards? Even the Pangadamans admitted there were bodyguards. It is very obvious that there were bodyguards involved otherwise in fact this is the main issue of the incident. Please open up your eyes. I even saw the photos of the bodyguards with high powered guns. In fact I even send you the link to the article with photos but you refuse to see it.

You said"So, just because Bambee said there were bodyguards you assume they were involved? Just because they were bodyguards there should be a gun".

False, again even the Pangandamans were saying that they have bodyguards. There were bodyguards and they were involved.

I did not understand your story about Bino,

yung bola nya pumunta sa rough tumawag ng rules officials for ruling, medyo natagalan, minura yung golf official, so arogante si Bino. Parang telegrama yung kuwento mo, walang detalye.

Although I don't condone anybody cursing rules officials, pero kahit si Kobe or Lebron, or even the great MJ curses at refs when they are frustrated about something, sometimes it's not really directed at the official, Bino is I think, 14?

well, anyways, you said you don't know anybody in both parties, but you also mention that the Dela Paz are very important members of the golf club and you said you are a member of the golf club.

i'm not here to get you, i was just trying to understand the whole thing, you professed that you know a little bit more about the situation because you studied and assessed the whole thing, but it looks like you are the same as everybody else, no clue.

and saying that listing down things that are false will take too long is a very poor way of dismissing a valid question, just like what a politician would do by the way. the blog is less than 2 pages long, how long will it take?

greensidebunker said...

brent said...

Lee - You are right that the bodyguards maybe lacking in training in situations like this but it is never an excuse. In cases like this the trainor is responsible.

LEE said...

Verum,

The points you raise are noteworthy.

From what I have read (VGC report, comments from fellow bloggers, newsbits and accounts from fellow golfers), I will no longer take sides. Rather, I blame both parties for acting the way they did.

I wont even call it irresponsible because at the start, mukhang nagkaayusan naman. What transpired later really was disappointing. Meron daw mayabang, meron daw malaking bata na may pamalo, dumating pa ang asawa't anak na may dalang panaksak at pamalo din, meron daw matapang na kapatid na sumugod, bodyguards, caddies, umbrella girls, et al.

One thing lacking and am sure you will agree....no peacemaker.

Shame on both of them i say.

LEE said...

Brent,

Thats exactly my point.

If your concept of a bodyguard is something out of Erap or an FPJ movie, mali talaga. Thats not a bodyguard, thats a thug.

Syempre, the bodyguard is out there to protect his boss, that is clear. But they are also trained to think right on how much force is necessary to repel an attack.

The proper amount of force = restraint. Kung ganun lang, sana naiwasan ang nangyari.

But then, whats done is done. Lets learn from it.

Greensidebunker,

Yup, that has been debated here quite a lot. Am sure that the secretary must have some regrets about the incident....

I believe that everyone here deserve a whack on the ass with a 3wood for causing such angst in the community. But then again, lets thank them also for giving us something to talk about.

C'mon kuya germs, sing with us.....that's entertainment.

I don't agree that we deserve a whack in the ass, none of the bloggers do, even the ones that sided with either party, or the ones that were paid to defend and to twist reality, even the stupid ones should be commended. It should be noted that the internet has become a very powerful tool, powerful enough to help elect a black president in a majority while nation, and powerful enough to to console and to defend a David abused by a Goliath of a DAR. This incedent highlights the fact that when somebody speak, somebody will be listening. And that when one is abused, just blog on.......Bambee, I hope that you and your family get the justice that you deserve.

Unfortunately, Pangandaman's bodyguards were not smart enough to recognize that the elder De la Paz' was more of a nuisance than a threat. They could've restrained De la Paz, whisked the Pangandaman's away from the scene and then called the cops. With the mayor out of the picture, it becomes a bodyguard vs dela Paz headline. Tsk, tsk. They were probably afraid their boss would turn around and beat them up instead.

greensidebunker said...

Nightfly,

You hit the nail on the head!!!
That's what a civilized person will do.

Nightfly said...

Thanks, Greensidebunker. I cannot however put all the fault on the hired help. Valley Golf staff could also have done something. I take it that a marshal was present. I am not a golfer but is that like a referee in other sports? Then again he probably saw guns pulled and decided to book. Worst of all is the inaction of the DAR Secretary. He practically condoned his kids behavior by looking the other way.

greensidebunker said...

I have not played much in the Philippines, but in the few times I did, most people will walk down the fairways, there are a few carts, every player has a caddy, he not only carries your bags for you but also helps you with your game, they tell you how far to hit, what obstacles lies ahead specially in blind shots. The most important duty of the caddy is to let you know when it is safe to hit or not, obviously, if people are still within your reach, you have to wait and you have to be pretty stupid to not listen when they say it's not safe to hit yet. They also have a peculiar way of communicating to the caddies up ahead (but it works) so nobody gets hit or get close to getting hit in a game (unless you play really bad to hit unsuspecting people in the adjoining hole). I have played in Valley Golf a few times, what I just mentioned is true to Valley Golf as well (they have really good breakfast there). Regular players have their favorite caddies or substitute, I'm sure the DAR secretary has one and his caddy will say whatever he wants him to say. Caddies cannot intervene in fights, they are basically incognito in the golf course. Marshalls are present only during tournaments, there may be one or 2 rangers where you can complain in slow play, but like caddies they are really not much help. Golf is a gentleman's game, you give yourself penalties when you make mistakes or violate the rules, even when no see you doing it.

In a brawl, there is really no help, can't blame the people in the country club, when among the giants in government and business that gathers there to boast of their latest corruption bounties, best thing to do is run and take cover.

I also heard about a fivesome that's slowing the play, that is really unethical and not allowed in most courses, unless you have power.

greensidebunker said...

With that said, that part about an 8 year old almost getting hit, I'm pretty sure that was a LIE!

LEE said...

Greensidebunker,

I agree with you on that.

LEE said...

Nightfly,

Ganun nga dapat, very professional...and may i add, smart too.

Nightfly,

Correct again. If more decisive action was taken on the spot by VGC staff and security, siguro nga na-contain ang problema.

pasali lang ha.

sa mga nag iinsist na may baril na involved, just look at the cases filed by the de la pazes against the pangandamans: (let me quote news reports)

“Lawyer Raymond Fortun, the dela Paz family’s attorney, said Masiu, Lanao del Sur Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., his brother, Hussein, are facing two counts of slight physical injuries and two counts of child abuse for mauling dela Paz and his 14-year-old son, Bino, over a golf course altercation.

Three of the Pangandamans’ bodyguards were charged with one count of slight physical injury. The criminal complaints were filed before the Antipolo City prosecutor’s office.”

just my take...

Unknown said...

thats the problem of most of the bloggers/people who comment here....they just base their comments on the blog of Bambee, and their own imagination.

they do not know what really happened.

and they do not know the attitude problem of the Dela Pazes with other golfers who are not as good golfers as them.

That's crap !

hmmm see the way (some) people think? hehe

yes I do know what happened because I play at VG, and me and DelaPaz have some common golf friends, I asked around, I asked witnesses, and I look at both sides of the coin. You what do you know? What did you do to know better? What do you know than "because I sympatize with Bambee..." Is that it? Thats your proof?? THAT is crap

oh well...you just made another nonsense post

I agree with Manassas Benedict the Manila-based news organization are becoming not only commercialized sacrificing truth with material considerations particularly ads but also imperial and selective.

This is all in the disguise of genuine journalism kuno.

What RP journalism have done to this country?Look they have Noli De Castro, close friend and campaign fund provider of Legacy's Celso delos Angeles, the pre-need scam wizard.

I will never vote for Noli De Castro he is an asshole to me.

The answer for this is blog.

Who's telling them to do this? They are always welcome to in my new blog bawalangmagnanakaw.com, I hope they could be my first "customers".

according to you there are no guns involved.

before my dad retired as a lowly manager in a private company based in the Visayas, whenever he is there visiting, his company provided him with "alalays", who doubles up as his bodyguards, they all have guns. He works in a public utilities company, walang anticipated na sagupaan.

now here's a handful of bodyguards for the DAR Secretary, and a Mayor, and all of them hails from Lanao. you got to be really NAIVE or stupid to think that they don't have guns. COMMON SENSE demands that they strip down to their socks to believe they don't have guns, get the picture?

HERE is an ARTICLE FROM a LOCAL PAPER I SHARE TO YOU PEOPLE:

Legacy rakes in P1-B from 684 investors in Caraga Region, Davao , CDO

by Ben Serrano

January 30, 2009

BUTUAN CITY - Now it can be told the Legacy’s Double Your Money investment scheme in three years time have raked in a total of P1-B in cold cash from 684 investors ranging from the highs and the middle –class families in Caraga Region, Davao and Misamis Oriental provinces.

Businessmen some wood traders, copra buyers, retirees, professionals, retired military and police and local government officials, Mayors including congressmen, regional directors and yes religious leaders too allegedly a Bishop were reportedly to have invested a combined total of more than P500-M from Caraga Region alone.

The rest of the P1-B investments were from Davao and Misamis Oreintal provinces including Cagayan de Oro City who invested from different soliciting sales or investment agents from Legacy offices in Surigao City , Butuan City and San Francisco , Agusan del Sur.

The Legacy regional office here claimed the lowest investment was P100-T to one million pesos to as high as five to ten million pesos each.

Mrs. Cecil Cloribel Zamora, one of the independent division heads of The Legacy of Caraga Region based here in Butuan City told this writer it took her many sleepless nights thinking ways on how to explain to her clients about the dire situation the company was experiencing.

She however requested in not naming names of the 684 client-investors for the moment because some are still suffering emotionally and trying to recover from it, saying it somehow embarrassed them since most of them are not only moneyed but represent the most-educated sector in Caraga society.

Zamora is one of the most awarded division heads of the firm The Legacy topping the investment sales and awarded once by Legacy President and CEO Celso De los Angeles himself as Top Division Head of the Year nationwide.

“It pains a lot when our Legacy head office in Makati announced last December 8, 2008 that they have filed notice of dissolution and from then on I received many text messages from my clients”, Zamora added.

Zamora claimed that majority of the 684 Legacy clients were not hers but from different sales agents who traveled day and night to as far as Davao, Misamis Oriental, Surigao and Agusan provinces just to convince would be investors in a double your money in three years.

Zamora added that she joined Legacy in 2004 upon invitation of another Legacy investment agent then from Cagayan de Oro City who had direct contact with Legacy CEO Celso Angeles.

Before joining Legacy, Zamora claimed she is already a top executive of another pre-need company Rhine Consolidated Plans, sister company of sewing machine and appliance giant Rhine Marketing.

Zamora claimed she herself has invested more than P2-M to Legacy and is planning to file charges against Legacy itself if things won’t be settled.

“All I want now are moneys be back to me and my clients as I am telling the Legacy officials in Makati office that we are giving them until February 15 for these things be settled” Zamora said.

“What is at stake here is not only money but reputation that I build for many years,” Zamora told this writer in an exclusive, tape recorded interview at her office Thursday afternoon with her subordinates attending.

Zamora revealed it took her weeks of researching and background checks on Legacy and she found out it was SEC-registered, PDIC affiliated and is even registered with the Central Bank of the Philippines

“That’s why I was convinced and from then on I started convincing other people to invest, as it is legal and viably sound", Zamora further adds.

Zamora said that as of now all 684 clients under her wing is forming the Association of Legacy Caraga Claimants through the help of the Butuan City Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Zamora said some of the client-investors particularly smaller ones who invested their ultimate savings ranging from P100-T have been already complaining that their day to day living were already affected as their savings were invested to Legacy.

“Some of the small clients who invested their savings have informed me they already don’t have money to buy rice, I took pity as I understand their plight but I told them me too have no money anymore” Zamora said.

Zamora admitted she was able to meet President Arroyo at the Malacaňan Palace last January 20, 2009 and there she claimed she was able to tell the President briefly her problem.

“She was busy at that time but I was able to relay to President Arroyo my problem briefly and she ordered Defensor (former DENR Secretary Michael Defensor) to talk to me”, Zamora concludes. (END)

greensidebunker,

get the sand out of your brain. the argument is whether those guns are used in the mauling of de la paz.

if you think those guns were used, you better tell that pricey lawyer fortun that he is sutpid because he did not include grave threats in the charges against the pangandamans.

stupid!

greensidebunker said...

pulisnapogi,

I'm not a fan of Mr. Fortun, I don't know what he knows,I don't know what he thinks, and neither do you.

Not adding that to the complaint does not mean it was not there. But I agree with you Mr. Fortun is stupid.

I'm so sorry this happened to your family in this day and age!

I can't believe that anyone, especially someone in a position of power like a *Mayor*(aren't they supposed to be charismatic and pro-people?)would act like a street thug and continually beat a respectable man...and his 14-year-old son!!!

If that was anywhere else in the world, the *Mayor* would get a jail sentence, hefty fine, and instant dismissal from his position of office.

What's wrong with the *Law* in the Philippines?

Am praying for common decency to prevail and for people to be able to speak out without harrassment.

And, did you know what impact or impression did you give people about MUSLIMS? the world is not crazy, dude. What they did was just the right thing to do because your father was over reacting and was the FIRST one who raised voice and the FIRST one to point the umbrella he happened to be bringing!

I ask you to have a break and read THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY!

Please na pogi,

Please, we all know no one is patted down when they go play in VGCC. Takot sila kapkapan ang mga tulad ng Pangandaman. Fortun knew VGCC would cover their asses by insisting they have a "no firearm" policy therefore none of the staff "saw" any firearms. Let it be known, be aware, VGCC is a sell out.

Ms Soliaiman,

I do not think being regionalistic will be of any help. It never was about that. Please read my previous comments on why the de la Paz' and Pangandamans should not be seen as equals.

But I pray for you kabayan that GOD will do something about this, especially for those out there who are so abusive to their power. When the power of GOD struck them no one can stop or overpower because GOD itself knows what is JUST and unjust for you and your family as well...Let The Good Lord our Lord Jesus Christ be with you Always...!

i have read another news update regarding the "notorious" Pangandaman beating up a "security guard" and coming up with LIES after LIES advising that the guard was the one who beat him up... who made the first move on him... are this people even educated? don't they know that they have already been quoted initially that they had no comment about it, and then after a couple of hours (maybe after checking with his lawyer) he comes up with a lame excuse that the guard was the one who made the first move on him, drawing up his gun and such... now this POLITICIAN is a disgrace to the Filipino government... I hope our President, PNOY, and Sec. De Lima will notice this misconduct coming from an elected official... they should be charged appropriately and face the court for the injustices they have done...

with this news, this blog has again come back to life... i pray for the injustices done to your family now be put to justice... and let this people who did this to you, allegedly, the Pangandaman brothers be put to trial...

God Bless you and your family always...
