The world has gone crazy.

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life, and I have never seen anything like this. NOTHING. This is hard to comprehend. And it happened to my own father and my own brother too. Right in front of my eyes.

My brother and I were playing golf at the South Course of Valley. We were on the 3rd hole, and we see two golf carts going past us, overtaking our flight, and setting up to tee off on the next hole. My dad goes up to them and asks them why they would do that, why they would overtake us without even asking for our permission. Golf etiquette 101. One of the guys says that they're with the flight in front of us. (So what? That doesn't give them the right to just pass us WITHOUT asking.) So, we go to the 5th hole. The flight behind us catches up with us, and asks us what caused the hold up. We said that this flight just slipped in front of our flight. So we complained to the marshall. We play the 5th hole and walk towards the next hole, where there is a teehouse, and both the flights in front of us were there, talking with the marshall. The mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur talks with my dad. Things get heated up. Voices were raised. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head..."Sorry na po, sorry na po...tama na...tama na po..." With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

I lash out, but my dad held me back. I was screaming my lungs out, shouting to this mayor, telling him about what he had done. I said: "Nakakahiya kayo. Singkwenta'y sais anyos ang tatay ko. And kapatid ko kakatorse anyos. Anong ilalaban nila sayo?"

The mayor looks at my brother, point to his face, and says, "Tatandaan kita!" And he tells me that my brother has a bad attitude and that I need to watch him. WHAT THE HELL?! So, my brother's bad for defending his father?!

We leave. We walk to the clubhouse to file a complaint. My brother asks for a doctor. My dad could barely walk. Their group comes to the clubhouse, sees my brother. Once again my brother pleads, says sorry, and is crying. He was CRYING, for crissakes. But no. The relentless mayor still punches him in the face, and then sees my dad and goes after my dad again. Him and his friend pull my dad to the ground, pulls at his feet, and steps on him like he's dirt. I run to him and try to hold him back, holding him back by his shirt, while this other guy and this girl tries to stop me. She tells me to just stop it. I scream in her face "they're beating my father up and you want me to stop?!" I pull at his shirt--I don't let go. All I can see was my dad being trampled on. I didn't even see my brother getting beat up.

People pull them away. I get my dad, and I saw my brother. His right ear was bleeding. I freaked out. I told the receptionists to bring my brother to the clinic. I pull my dad away. People were separating us.

My mom and my older brother come. I tell her Bino's right ear is bleeding. They both look like they could kill. My dad holds my brother off, I hold off my mom. When I finally got my mom under control, my older brother gets away and I hold him off. Two of the mayor's bodyguards pull out guns. I embraced my brother from the back, just holding him back, crying. The receptionists came to us, crying, hugging me, my dad, and my mom, whispering to us to just leave. "Maam, umalis na po kayo, may mga baril sila...Maam...umalis na po kayo please..."

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn't do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

Sounds like something out of a movie, doesn't it? But this is what happened. TODAY. The day after Christmas. To my family. And all I ask for is JUSTICE. The people at Valley Golf did not seem to want to help us. None of the security guards even tried to stop the fight. Right in the clubhouse. I came back after the fight was over and talked to the receptionists. They say they did not see anything. The general manager of Valley Golf would not give us the names of the men who made my brother's ear bleed. It took him an hour. Maybe even more than that. He seemed to not want to help us. Because, we were against the SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRARIAN REFORM and the MAYOR OF MASIU CITY, LANAO DEL SUR. They were all scared.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

When facing a politician in a court expect the dirties tactics to be done in favor of the politician I hope that somebody out there "Left or Right" can make the politician realize what is the feeling of being beatup!!!

I was quite shocked when I first read about his incident in the news. I thought this only happens in the movies!

As a mayor, or even a high ranking govenment official, one should exercise "extreme discretion" in anything they do, specially in public places. "Extreme tolerance" is also a necessary trait since one will be subject to criticisms as a public figure.

The mayor's behaviour and display of arrogance of power is "totally unacceptable" as a public official, no matter what his alibi is, even if the other party started it (this is..."if")! He doesn't deserve to be in government service!

If this mayor can do it out of his turf with "guns & goons" in Valley Golf, supposedly a safe & peaceful place for "people who can afford to play golf", imagine what he can do to ordinary people in his town anytime someone goes against him?
As for the high ranking Cabinet Secretary, he is also accountable since he committed the "sin of omission"...he just allowed a public crime be committed in his presence without doing anything? If he can't even control his own son, how can you expect him to effectively perform his functions managing a large bureacracy like the DAR?

My advice, file the complaint ASAP! Let the law and justice take it's course. You have a strong case! Law and Justice is on your side!

I have been in the government service for decades now. People like these should not even be allowed in the government service! Ther're a disgrace to good and law-abiding public servants like us.

May the whole world know how honorable these politicians are. Talagang thieves and liars of the same kind flock together.

Thats why I've trying to avoid reading news from Pinas eh, ganitong klase ang mababasa mo.

Watched some videos from Youtube about this incident.

I remember in Makati City, when my mom worked as one of the City councilor staff, election week busy na kami sa pag-abot ng envelope with 500Php sa mga voters. I had two terms as SK official and I got offered to run as City councilor pero inayawan ko dahil maraming kapalit. This was mid-90's pa ah. Ewan ko na lang ngayon. That's why I left Pinas..

My prayers and sympathy to you and your family..

haay, naku. whatever the pangandamans did to your family is truly gawi of the M of the Lanao area. C'mon, ask any peace-loving Christian of the Lanao area what these M do, and I can assure you they will describe a scenario similar to what happened to you and your family. To correct many of you, it has little to do with their being politicians. Rather, a lot to do with their being M. They rely on number and ammo to muster courage. Come to the Lanao area, and you will see that what they did is not as uncommon as you might think.

hope and pray that you and your family will get through this ordeal safe and with justice served accordingly. get with those tulfo brothers and let's just see what will happen to those goons. take extra care because you guys are dealing with professional thugs.

people here in san diego are following this story closely. keep up the good fight... hopefully this will serve as an example to power trip politicians in our country.

You can start by blaming the Movie Makers - for making movies that glorify the criminals... the political abusive character with the culture of violence. Then you can also start blaming the Movie Maker financers for making such movies become a reality.

The movies dating back from the late 60's up to the late 90's in Pinoy cinema are contributory to what the modern Pinoy politicians in the suburbs are.

Power hungry, Ego centric, Concieted, abusive and Neurotic for having an illusion of grandeur.

"Kilala niyo ba ako?" is their most used line... a hint about their insecured and perverted psyche.

This is what happens when we are exporting our good citizens out of our country and making them work as slaves in other countries.

The rotten ones rule the country.

No offense to those who are legitimately good natured... but - sadly, this country needs to be overhauled.

The people should fire these undesirable public servants. Of course we can fire them... we were the ones who hired them in the first place by virtue of the ballot.

Bad things happen when Good people do nothing.

REY,

It's written in English can't you understand? Do you want me to translate in Hebrew?

It's hatred and pride that makes this World crazy and crazier even.

The World has gone crazy. No, its not, its people who sow hatred that makes this World crazy.

Personally, I condemn the acts of the Pangandamans on the other hand I pity the souls of those who unknowingly but slowly becoming like them.

The reason why the Pangandamans did it because they are not only drunk with powers they forget the Golden Rule.

Likewise, the Dela Pazes have their own shortcomings too.. Am sorry to say this.

For all of us have fallen short in the Kingdom of God which says we have to love our enemies!

Difficult isn't it? That's why its really difficult to understand the words of God.It's opposite to man's vanity and pride.

And I remember the parable of Mary Magdalene when she was stoned by hordes of people in her time because she was a terrible sinner.

But what Jesus Christ tell the stoning public "Let those who are not sinners cast the first stone against this woman"

Ashamed, the people stopped stoning Mary Magdalaene.

I don't know what your surname is but its better you reveal yourself for fairness..I am not against you, I just wanted to share with you the Bible, brother!May peace reign in our hearts always..

I love you brother! Peace be with you!

Even if all 81-M Filipinos will sign this petition and the two Pangandamans will not resign and Madam Arroyo will not ask the DAR's Secretary's resignation. We can't do anything.

All we can do is, 2010 national elections is near, we must bond ourselves together with no partisan politics and help empower, educate and inform our brother Filipinos particularly in the countryside the importance of selecting good, God-fearing leaders.

Now, don't get me wrong Rey, because I am also for the petition, what we really need here is all of us must agree and in one voice will work together for total political reforms in this country!

And this is not only for Rey but to all those bloggers down here, I all agree with you guys, but its about time that we must unite together for CHANGE of our beloved Philippines!

PEACE BE WITH YOU and GOD BLESS the Philippines!

Ben Serrano,

First, this isn't about you and me. This is about injustice done against the De la Pazes by the Pangandamans. So, this will be the last time that am going to reply to your comments.

Second, I am not the one who started the online petition, I only posted the link here.

Third, when I say "translate in english" I mean write it in a more simple form that can be understood by common person like me.

Fourth, you said "we must unite together for CHANGE of our beloved Philippines!" and "what we really need here is all of us must agree and in one voice will work together for total political reforms in this country!", do you have other suggestions what actions we can take in unity "for CHANGE of our beloved Philippines" and what can we "work together for total political reforms in this country"?

I don't really know what you're up to here, or which side are you really. It seems your just very eager to deliver your "sermon". There are only 2 sides to take here, the De la Pazes and the Pangandamans, and I'm with the former. How about you? And please don't tell me about selecting good leaders come election time, we all know what happens during elections, cheating, vote buying etc.

BTW, are you Ben Serrano the journalist?

Justice to the Da la Paz family!

I don't also sermon for the sake of sermoning like you I am only sharing my thoughts.

On whether you believe me or not, I don't care much more have any problem about it.

There is no law, by the way banning in expressing ones' thought. It is even guaranteed by the constitution That no law shall be abridging the right to self expression.

On cheating, vote-buying and electoral frauds here in the Philippines it happened because people like you don't give a damn to stop it!

On whether one will accept that challenge for Change, is not my problem anymore!

What is important to me is that I am doing my share to make this World a better place to live not only for me but for my kids and the future generations!

What i mean here buddy, is that, all these blogs won't mean nothing unless we initiate total political reforms!

Believe me, tis incident will happened over and over again if we will not address the root cause to all of these.

I am from Mindanao and the experience of Dela Pazes are peanuts compared to many of the experiences of abuses of poor people inflicted unto them by abusive and unrepenting Pinoy politicians and their cohorts!

The injustices experienced by poor people like is beyond compare!

I am for the good side and lasting solution for lasting peace and progress of this country.

Hatred, vanity and pride won't solve it!

Christians and Muslims are the same because there are also Christians oppressing Christians, killing even softly.

As for her dad having a bad reputation in Valley, it's totally true...

When I talked to my mates over in Valley Golf about the incident, they were all "oh, oh well, that guy's a major arse..."

How everyone here just jumped on the bandwagon is a prime example of the mob mentality that prevails in your country.

Heck it's the only way that seems to work for you guys, having ousted two presidents that way...

eto basahin nyo totoong nangyari...a post from a certain "rge" from pinoygolfers.com forum:

http://www.pinoygolfer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5801&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=pangandaman&start=180

now youve read both sides...sino sa tingin nyo nagsasabi ng totoo?

sa tingin ko, what happened was the inevitable consequence when golf bullies meet bullies....kumbaga nakahanap ng katapat! tsk tsk tsk.

Hmmm...

About the 14-year-old kid issue...eh paano kung yung 14-year old eh mas malakai at mas matangkad sayo at matapang na makikipag-away sayo? Pabayaan mo lang ba sya bugbugin ka dahil 14-year-old sya? It doesnt mean na 14-yr-old eh bata at walang laban. Aber? Isip isip...

Sa totoo lang when I first read about the incident in the blog here, galit na galit ako sa mga Pangandaman gusto ko murahin taena nila! But now when I saw the other side of the coin...it made me think!

Stick with the issue...ano masasabi nyo sa issue....reading both sides of the story. Kung matalino kayo, marunong kayo mag-balance. Be intelligent...hwag puro comment na walang kwenta.

your account of the incident reads a lot worse than what has been printed in the papers. I can feel nothing but sympathy for you and your family.

I am a lawyer i understand perfectly what you are going through. purge all hatred from your heart and stick to your narration of the facts principles. do not let your meotions get the best of you.

based on your testimony and that of your father and brother (who cares about those cowards at valley golf) it seems that you have an open and shut case. The city prosecutor of antipolo, where i assume your case will be filed, is quite honest; there shouldn't be a problem winning there. A classmate of mine is also a judge there in antipolo and he's ok also.

as for your tormentors, its "hello muntinlupa for you!"

I noticed that some people here and other blogs have posted the so called "Real Story" and actually have changed their minds. Very typical of a lot of people I know. My question is, is this really the "Real Story"? Can anyone here really proved something that this was the truth. You changed your mind like you changed your clothes. Let's get real here.

Unknown said...

@iliganon,

Sabi ko naman sayo eh stick with the issue bai...dami mo sinabi puro naman kayabangan puro mali naman.

First off...the issue is not about Ethnic or Religion. Its about mauling or brawling incident which involve a Govt official and a 14-year-old kid. STICK TO THE ISSUE!

Okay stick to the issue nalang po pra hindi ka masyado mapahiya.

May the TRUTH prevail! Ang mga arrogante at bully...kung sino man yun sa dalawang parties involve...you get what you deserve.

Live Jesus always in our hearts! Forever!

:)

iliganon said...

@dino: there's something sa pananalita mo which do not connect properly and to be honest I strongly do not believe Christian ka, but back with the ra-ta-tat anyway.

First off....in the end it will boil to one thing and one common thing: a Christian father & son being beaten up by Muslim government officials AND their bodyguards. whatever defense and violent objections you will have against this statement, eto yung makikita clearly and plainly at the bottom and God forbid this will not fan any embers of hatred we feel against your corrupt and abusive brothers and sisters, else you would all go back to the mountains of Lanao where you will again feel the wrath of Christians who are fed up with your shenanigans(research The 70s, kiddo)

Secondly, why give the Pangandamans to the MILF at ipapatay kung sila nga ang may sala? are you serious? you gotta be kidding me.
(give them to us, at kami na bahala. we will cut the vine down to its root para di na mapamarisan pa)

Thirdly, it's "Let Jesus live in our hearts, always and forever!"

Wow. These comments are getting ridiculous.

Let's keep the anti-Muslim/pro-Muslim/anti-Christian/pro-Christian/whatever out of this and stick to issues of common decency, please.

@Bai, stop posting the same thing over and over again. We've all read it. It's getting really old. It was hilarious the first time, now it's just grating. You are entitled to your opinion of the events, and that's fine, but spamming's so not getting you on anyone's good side. Especially spamming Bambee's own blog about it. I hope you realize how indecent that looks.

I'm actually quite grateful that you guys are linking the pinoygolfers thread, because if you read the ensuing conversation from it, a poster named "jick" makes excellent points, and I agree with many of what he said. I encourage everyone to read the linked post and the discussion that followed.

Valley Golf is being extremely unprofessional with how it's handling matters, and what the heck is the head of the fact-finding committee doing saying his (very biased) findings to people unrelated to the case? If these are the sorts of people being entrusted with the investigation, then no wonder senators and mayors like the Pangandamans exist in our government.

This post at the Pinoygolfers forum can hardly be construed as absolute truth. It's a second-hand account of one person about someone else's faulty investigation. I'm not saying Rge is duping anyone, but the "facts" as they were presented to him aren't as untainted as Bai & co. would have us believe. Read it and form your own opinion, guys.

On a slightly more related note, it would be interesting to see someone compile a list of inconsistencies among the Pangandamans' interviews and such from DZMM and news article quotes, because I think they've contradicted themselves quite a number of times. I'm still laughing at the interview where Pangandaman Jr. "recounts" how Bambee and Bino (an 18-year old and a 14-year old with rather slim builds) supposedly managed to both restrain and beat up Hussein while everyone else just stood there and watched (or were busy trying to wrestle an umbrella from a frail, old man LMAO).

Also, I found this link from a post on Multiply while link-hopping. It's the scan of the incident report from Valley Golf:

http://midfield.wordpress.com/2009/01/02/valley-golf-guards-report-pangandaman-security-men-drew-guns-on-dela-pazes/

clarifying that the bodyguards were indeed there, and that they drew guns in a menacing manner against the de la Pazes.

To Bambee's supporters, I think we'll help her most if we keep ourselves informed and updated. Prayers are all well and good, but, as a few good people have already mentioned before me, let's not let this fade into obscurity.

@iliganon,
This blog and comments here is about the incident at that Golf course. Ngayon naging off-topic na tayo, its about Muslims vs Krsityano na. And I am not aware na ang mag-cocomment pala dito ay dapat kampi sa author, ang kontra dapat tumahimik. I am not pro or againts the Pangandaman....I just stated here, together with the whole story of the incident, that people should also see the other side of the coin before judging. Now ano ginawa mo, you told me to "shut up", pumapalag ako, at lalo ka nagalit sabihin mo ngayon moklo ako at kung ano ano... bakit ka nagagalit? Yeah because truth hurts, soldier! Now youre telling me something sa pananlita ko hindi mo gusto. Eh ikaw ang unang nagyabang dyan eh...yan napapala mo kahihiyan. Di ba, similar to the golf incident? :)

Sige bai, tell me exactly when you will be in Iligan and CDO at sino kayo doon, magpapakilala ako sayo. That would be better. Please ask your bros.

"Live Jesus always in our hearts forever" is a Lasallian expression, sabi ko nga HS grad ako ng LSA Iligan..if youre really Iliganon, alam mo yan! :) Anyway for your added knowledge --> http://www.lasalleyakima.com/home/Resources%20and%20Links/Lasallian%20Prayer,%20Live%20Jesus/index.html

@Bai a Labi,
Iligan City is NOT a part of Moro ancestral domain.....saan mo naman nakuha yan???? Never mo mapalayas ang mga true Iliganons dun...lumalaban kami handa kami sa gierra nyo, wag lang magsimula ng gulo ang mga muslims :) Dont get me wrong, I am not anti-muslim, but I am anti-magugulong tao.

Corruption at its worst at the PIA Caraga Regional Office until now.

The mob mentality here is amazing. For those who want to simply state the truth and say the other side of the story..."BAYARAN ka kaagad ng PANGANDAMANS"!!! Can't people simply state their side of the story because that is what they believe in?

If you believe that Bambee's story is accurate and true then that is your right.

But for those who believe that the De La Paz family are an arrogant bunch that had it coming, that is another side that has to be accepted. Apparently, the father (who is not a golfer) is "hated" in the tennis courts that he frequents in Taytay.

As for the 14year boy being beaten.... If a thief enters your house and you see him in the act of stealing your TV, will you ask him what his age is???? Guys, think of what your arguments are...this particular 14 year is quite big for his age. In a brawl, you will not stop to ask how old a person is before punching him. Does his age of 14 years free him from the consequences of hitting the mayor with his driver? So what if you are 14 years old --- if you are the one shouting at the other party with expletives you will really get hurt.

As for the Dad, same thing...old, young, white, brown, straight, gay, what have you........ IT DOES NOT MATTER. If you are arrogant, you will one day face a person who will not tolerate your arrogance... and you will most likely eat dirt!

Are the Pangandamans arrogant? For all I know they may be arrogant as well. But what I do know is that they did not PROVOKE anybody physically!!! Being 56 years old does not give you the right to poke anybody with an umbrella!

first of all with the salary of that secretary and that mayor, can they even afford a golf club with it? pathetic piece of shit!

Unknown said...

@venum, nadale mo brad. 14 year old nga...pero 5'6" at 140lbs. Kung ikaw yung sinusugod o hinahampas ng golf club ng batang to, ano gagawin mo? Tatanungin mo muna edad nya? Kahit na sagutin ka nya na 14 yrs old palang sya...pero hahampasin ka nya ng golf club, hindi ka pa rin papalag dahil sinabi nyang minor pa sya? Kung ako yun, I will use all means necessary to subdue him and strike back to knock him down to make sure he cannot swing that golf club again. When I was a 14 yrs old, I am aware of what trouble or damage I can do. Kayo masasabi nyo bang nung 14-yrs old kayo di kayo makabasag pinggan??? Get real

Dont get me wrong, I have also encountered already this Hussein Pangandaman in the past, at hindi ko gusto talaga ugali nyan mayabang yan, ask all his batchmates in Xavier U. But I will not elaborate kse off-topic na.

As I said, lets stick lang to the main issue...about that incident in Valley Golf....sino ang nagpasimuno ng gulo? Sino ang naging aggresive which resulted into this unfortunate incident? Dun lang tayo.

For the Pangandamans, kahit na lumabas pa na mali ang Dela Paz, they should have been more responsible since they are public officials nga. Sabi nga nila, "with great power comes great responsibility".

verum said...

For you info I am a member of Valley golf and I know, based on official testimony, what REALLY happened. I know neither the De la Paz Family not the Pangandamans.

I just want to air the truth.

brent said...

Verum - what I was trying to say here are guns vs. an umbrella and the Pangandamans being public officials as they are. I also, believe that Valley Golf is responsible as they could have called the police as soon as they realized that someone was hurt. Now, please tell me if they've done that.

The police were called and considering the seriousness of the incident, I was wondering if they actually took either or both of the parties into custody for questioning to get their statements. Correct me if I am wrong here... although, my mind was telling me that the police would not do exactly that to a cabinet member and you and everyone else know why. But then again, I thought no one should be above the law.

verum said...

brent,

The letter showed on the link you gave is too incomplete to make any comment.

What we have to remember is this...there were two rounds of fighting...(1) on the course and (2) in the clubhouse.

By the time the DelaPaz family came into the clubhouse after round 1, they the father and Bino was bloody already because Hussein Pangandaman is a HUGE fellow. But there were no guns there.

Round two happened in the clubhouse...still no guns. Since no bodyguards are allowed inside the club. The only time the bodyguards came in was at the end of round two. And yes, by that time, they had guns. But even the NBI said nobody can stop them anymore from entering. They were detailing a Cabinet member of the Republic of the Philippines, it was their duty to protect their detail. But when they entered, they at no time, pointed any gun at anybody!!!

brent said...

Verum - I guess the police were not called after the first fight?

I do not know the exact time the police were called. But the time frame between the first and second round were only minutes from what I gathered.

Hi. I've been following your family's plight. I just heard that they had the gall to file a counter-suit against you.

I'm sure this could've been settled by just a simple CIVILIZED conversation. Especially if the older Pangandaman didn't 'participate'.

They should humble themselves and apologize to your family, because as public officials a HIGHER STANDARD is expected of them.

I hope you don't give up this fight. This is becoming more than a golf altercation but a blatant abuse of power by people in the government.

It's funny how people who accuse others of falling for the mob mentality are basically prey to the exact same thing and are blind to it. Also, Verum, unless you actually -witnessed- the event, then you're in the same boat as we are, dude. You're relying on the account of someone who might have witnessed what happened as well. If you think you're in a better position to "relay facts," then bully for you, you aren't. Our source is Bambee, your source is a witness from Valley Golf who needed days before releasing his or her recollection of the events. Let's not forget the emergency meeting VGCC held right after their collective silence with the police. Although I do thank you for relaying what the Pangandamans or what Valley Golf might be saying in court, it does put some things in context.

I repeat (because these guys just LOVE copy/pasting the exact same pinoygolfer URL, LOL), anyone concerned with this issue SHOULD read that Pinoygolfer thread and read the ensuing discussion. Some users have efficiently dissected that report. At first reading, it clearly panders the Pangandamans, and my doubts that this case is being handled by the wrong people were erased, if that is the "impartial" sort of investigating that the fact-finding committee is boasting about.

Guys, saying "if someone poked you with an umbrella, wouldn't you hit that guy too?" is such a silly way of countering this whole argument. First off, we aren't the DAR Secretary. We don't have his set of expectations that public officials are expected to have -- a set of expectations that the DAR Secretary clearly does not possess for not even lifting a finger to prevent the fight. Yeah, effective peace negotiating skills there. The peace talks in Mindanao are going to go SO WELL!

Secondly, I wouldn't hit that guy, I'd let the security freaking handle it -to avoid a mess like this one.- What idiotic official would let their family participate in a fight, provoked or unprovoked, with civilians? You're a public official, -you don't go around hitting people,- period. We didn't vote unthinking monkeys and barbarians in positions of power. Or at least we thought we didn't. It's so insanely clear that Pangandaman Sr. is unfit for his current position, and I'm glad to see there might be people in the Malacanang that think so too, if there's any substance to this article:

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/142398/DAR-chief-appeals-for-fairness-to-bloggers-over-golf-clubhouse-mauling

On a different note: of course others can post the other version of the story -here,- but, you know...you enter someone's house, you start calling the family liars, expect that family's friends to throw tomatoes at your face. There are more appropriate venues for people to air their opinions of the issue without getting as much grief for it, really. I appreciate that Bambee is kind enough to not block comments from her blog or censor anyone from speaking their side, that speaks much of her character.

On an unrelated note, the holidays are off, back to school and work for most of us. Hope you guys don't have to suffer through the godawful traffic today like I did :(.

Because of Republic Act 7610, higher penalties are now imposed against perpetrators of crimes against minors. In this case Pangandamans may be imprisoned for a minimum of six years and one day.

Nasser Pangandaman Jr.'s position as a mayor can be considered as an aggravating circumstance, and he may face the maximum penalty from 9 to 12 years of imprisonment.

On Saturday, a Palace executive hinted that the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) chief may no longer enjoy as much trust in Malacañang as a result of the Antipolo golf course incident.

Presidential Management Staff (PMS) head Cerge Remonde said the only thing keeping Pangandaman in the Cabinet is the ongoing investigation into the incident.

These countrymen of ours are one with you in condemning the incident last Dec. 26, 2008.

Many of these politicians who are currently in their post because they were placed there by the common 'TAO'; fed, clothe, sheltered and paid by the Filipino people are today the very ones that are quite abusive. What do we expect when the leaders like the Good Secretary all the way down to the barangay tanods or Kagawads try to mimick or even better these so-called traits of our leaders. A very good example of this is what happens daily in the very busy streets of Metro Manila. Motorcycle cops escorting politicians, government bigwigs and generals of the Armed Forces and the Police bully and snake their way everyday to pass all the vehicles suffering in our very heavy busy streets.

But don't worry, God is good. God is all knowing and God is just. Let us pray that one day, hopefully sooner than later, He will send another Ninoy to us to lead our country to a better Philippines.

Cases have been filed by both parties, the de la paz and the pangandaman..

IF the dela paz will win the case, then i will despise the pangandaman. but i don't think they deserve to be put to jail just because of this. and i don't think they should lose their job just for this too. it would be so unfair.

BUT IF the pangandaman will win the case, i will forever curse the de la paz's. i wish them to suffer for all their lifetime for arousing and starting hatred against innocent people and even convincing a lot of people to feel for them. and to those who called the pangandaman nasty names, they should at the very least ask for forgiveness for what they did.

i just hope this thing gets settled na coz i have a lot of things to do but i just couldn't keep myself from not voicing out what i think.

@dino, don't be mad. if you trace back history, almost whole of mindanao belong to the moro people. the ancestral domain conflict started when people from luzon migrated in mindanao and claim lands. and if im not mistaken, it was also people from luzon who drove moro people away from their lands because they were a minority. okay enough of history.

@dendoy. i feel the need to post the other side of the story blog so people won't rush to conclusion just because of this blog. and if bambee is truly innocent, she won't mind at all.

It only means you are not for the Truth..you are baised for the Pangandamans kahit lalabas na sila talaga ang mali. Tsk tsk. Nagpapatawa ka naman dito eh.

At least ako hindi naman ganon mag-isip.

Anyway, you still failed to show me proof from history that Mindanao is solely for the Moros. Show it to me...look for a unbiased link in the internet....if its true Im sure there must be a link for it somewhere. Until then, that is just your own opinion or your own imagination or a story told to you by your friends or relatives. Its easy to make a story Im sorry you cant prove its credibility.

So again get your facts straight ans show proof to whatever you are sharing here.

Opps off-topic na naman sorry :)

I observed that the blog is that while it seek for justice the Blog betrays justice. In the first paragraph it says:

"Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp"

In short, the Secretary directly participated in beating the defenseless father and his son.

But in 10th paragraph it states that:

"Im pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight."

But again in 11 paragraph it concludes that:

"The world has gone crazy. Two politicians [the Mayor and the Sec] beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son."

This is one reason why I distrust politicians. Some of them no longer possess a conscience, more so a soul, to speak of. And they protect each other without any consideration for what's right, wrong, ethical or fair. Just look at GMA abusing her authority to pardon convicted criminal politicians and affluent people. I hope and pray you and your family would have the courage and perseverance to go the distance with this and I fervently hope you won't accept an out-of-court settlement. This conduct is unbecoming and downright shameful of people who are supposedly the leaders of the country. Being a blatant abuse of power that's derived from the Constitution, this should be considered a crime against the people of the Philippines, and thus should never be tolerated. Just think of the next person they'd be doing this to.

The country's culture of political impunity from the top elected post to the lowliest civil servant conditions this group of people to misguided assumptions of superiority and invincibility.

"Hindi mo ba ako kilala?" neatly capsulizes this abhorrent mentality.

It is understandable that the Masiu residents feel powerless to express any objections to negative occurrences in their daily lives as direct results of the Pangandamans' boorish behavior, faced are they are with such blatant display of goons and firepower.

Safely standing far from Lanao del Sur, I can pursue my idealism and urge the de la Pazes to stand firm and resist any monetary settlement offered out of court. Punitive damages should take care of the financial difficulties with which this case has burdened them. That is, if the the Pangandamans' "power" does not reach the justice departments of the land.

Pangandaman senior's behavior during this violent, Mafia-like altercation speaks volumes. It certainly stands to reason that his sons exhibit the same attitude that has brought them to this very public exposure of misdeeds that would ordinarily be shoved into obscurity where it not for Miss de la Paz's outspoken outrage. There is no question that senior definitely needs to vacate his Agrarian Reform position. If he doesn't voluntarily do so, the big question is:

Has Gloria Arroyo enough principles to facilitate his removal?

Watch and learn.

A classic example of Pinoy politicias... Grabe na ito!... this should bring justice to your family... they should go behind bars! We will pray for your family's safety and I hope that the executive government will not close their eyes to seek the truth!

vernum,
there's a very big chance that the pangdmn will win this case dahil politikong pinas iyan. lahat ng kapit nila, puwersa at kung ano pang nakurakot nilang pera ay gagamitin nila para manalo. in the mean time, ang isang juan dela cruz ay walang kalaban laban, that's why people are on bambee's side. stories after stories, cases after cases and history will repeat itself again na sila ang mananalo dahil mga politiko ang kalaban... magkakasing baho sila. mga taong ibinoto to uphold justice but the only justice these rotten crooks know is their own kind of justice. si juan ay nagiging parang alipin na siya dapat ang pinaglilingkuran in the first place nitong mga "public servant" kuno. it was a very smart move of bambee to do this... i'm sure though, that's she's not expecting this all out support from so many... which is very good. hope we're sending a very strong message to these trapos and other so called vip's there sa pinas (celebrities or not) to beware... your days of arrogance, pushing and bullying so called regular folks will come back and hunt you guys... like a boomerang!
peace from sandog...

Looks like PR machinery has already invaded this blog.....

Bambee, assuming that your family is as arrogant as the spin doctors would want to portray you, and the Pangandamans are absolute saints, you guys must have really behaved so boorishly to have provoked these honorable gentlemen into transforming themselves into the pinoy version of the incredible hulk.....Amazing! Maybe we should send your dad, your brother and you to Mindanao to fight the Abu Sayaff and the MILF all at the same time.....and what about their bodyguards? The PR consultant forgot to write about them.

Saw a photo of your brother in today's newspapers...He's got good size for his age but thats not his fault. C'mon, some of history's most vile madmen were in reality little guys.

What were the Pagdanganan boys doing at valley golf? They should be in serving their constituents. Wala ba golf course in their area? Or is this another case of long distance governance?

In a tale of the tape match-up pitting your supposedly, arrogant family against the saintly, civilized secretary, his sons and their bodyguards, I'd side with you....

Unbelievable.

The Pangandaman's are very arrogant because;

1. They are in power
2. They have bodyguards in tow

Without those, they would be the oh so typical people you see on the streets. Nothing special about these clan, they are the typical thugs based in Mindanao. Not so different from those terrorists really. These are terrorists dressed as so called "public servants" PWEH!

And Pangandaman Sr. "appealling" for bloggers to stop attacking them? Here's to you!! NGARAT! Tigas ng mukha mo ulol!

And Junior, he can only pick a fight with boys and not with men. Funny thing is, he needed the help of bodyguards. Ang galeng galeng mo parekoy! Isa kang MALUFET....malufet na unggoy!

I really pray that these perps would get the punishment they deserve.

Salvador,

For all the nice things said about the secretary (nice guy, patient, mabait), what he failed to be was a "statesman."

After the first incident, what he could have done was to remove his family from the scene and avoid further incident....y'know, kumain na lang sa labas, manood ng sine (Iskul Bukol, Baler, etc, etc) or pumunta sa Manila Zoo para matuwa yung mga baboon na bodyguards nila...all in the name of diplomacy, then file a complaint afterwards. After all, he is a government official, should have given way to a citizen who pays not only his salary, but those of his sainted children and their pets....wasted opportunity.

Had he done that, he may have been admired / commended for statemanship instead of having to plead for understanding. Pero teka, its not the secretary who should do the pleading, its his children di ba?

Unknown said...

Papa Lee,

You just hit it dead center papi. It should be the children asking or the very least support the pleadings of the father....well lo and behold they just proven that they don't have the balls nor decency to do it. Ironically though, they had a knack at beating up a boy.

Absence of "statesmanship"? It's no surprise really, considering these are thugs the De La Paz are dealing with. Its akin to "making pana the buwan". Delicadeza? It's also absent, eh sa tigas ng mukha ayaw mag leave of absence muna habang on-going ang investigation.

It's no wonder that even the smallest, lowest ranking government officials project the same attitude.

They learn from the worse examples of leadership.

I wish nothing but a thousand torturous deaths for these earth scums.

LEE said...

Salvador,

Malungkot isipin na the secretary has to take the cudgels for the wrongdoing of his children who are not even in police custody unlike the Alabang Boys di ba?

Look, am not saying that we line them up against the wall. I believe that we are far too soft-hearted to render street justice. Which leads me to thinking that they should be thankful that they are not in some country like Somalia.

Cases have been filed by both sides in the courts. All we can do at this time are:

* watch and be entertained
* listen to the spin doctors
* wait for some VIP politico to
either feign illness or fake an
ambush to gain sympathy
* wait for this story to be made
into the next hit movie
* just keep blogging away

Cheers.

Am sure na gasgas na ang comment na ito, but golf is a gentleman's sport.....since when has it evolved into a contact sport?

On the other hand, it may make it more exciting to watch. Have any of you guys ever watched a boxing/chess match? Crude but entertaining.

Cheers.

Powerhungry thats what they are. So he is the Mayor. That does not give him the right to brag and hurt others. Gone were the days that when you say public servant you place others before yourself. Well the truth will prevail and they will get what they deserve. All we can do is pray that the public will see the real rotten person inside those political monkeys.

Teka, why not make golf a true contact sport? Isama natin sa isang tournament ang lahat ng pasaway and their bodyguards and let them beat the living tar out of each other?

If you cant convert them, beat them.

Even a traffic enforcer given just a small taste of power has the capability to abuse this power. What more a Mayor and an Agri. Sec? They suddenly changed the sport from a social gentlemanly game to an all time low in just a few minutes. I think this is due to having escorts all the time with them pushing away at traffic to move from one point to the other. They got used to this that they cannot wait a few minutes... As if they had any important things to do anyway. Its really a shame that these people get away with these just because they suck the Presidents feet like leeches. Giving an apology that's more for show than being sincere. Same as Arroyos I AM SORRY statement. God can see you and your lies Pangandang Demonyo you will get what you deserve in the afterlife. Dino,

To get the low down on the allegation on the use of a baseball bat, it would be best that Bambee shares her views on that.

I dont see the significance of injecting that into the discussion unless the objective is to project a "violent" image of the family....Is that it?

Assuming for the sake of argument, that your father was indeed feisty and initiated the physical conflict by using his umbrella like a Big Bertha 1 on the golf ball that is the Mayor's brain... err...head (or tummy), it still does not justify nor validate the use of force meted out to your father and brother by these pure excuses of a man.

They claim, that your father started it.

So what?

These scumbags are no better than that scoundrel in Grand Theft Auto who would mug an old lady just to steal her old and scrappy car.

No shame, these berks.

its Christmas, how could they do that!?

GOD will make a way. He saw everything. Justice will be given. And those (bad) people will surely regret of what they have done. imagine.? They are known. How could they do that.? You know, politicians think they are the most powerful persons here, and that they are excluded from any offenses or sin, that's why they're not afraid of anything. And that's why the staff of that 'place for playing golf' just can't stop them, go against them. They may be scared, i know. Yes, its unfair. But for God's sake, they should do what is right, protecting the mayor (or whoever) is not their duty, but to maintain peace and order in their place.

Too much shame for that family (the city mayor and his son). They don't deserve what they got. They're just so MEAN!

i know how much you love your family, especially your dad. i'll pray for you. and oh! take care, and keep safe. better leave that city, and find a new place to live in. you may be in danger there. may be those guys wil be back for revenge. well, i hope that doesn't happen.

God bless to you and your family. Remember, God is there.

GIRL i'M GONNA REPOST THIS TO MY FACEBOOK AND MY BLOG. The world should know what kind of Government people we have here.

It pains me that there are still assholes from the Government who have the gall to ask the very persons who pay taxes so that these freakin people would have golf memberships or privileges "who they are". They have guns whose ammo taxpayers are paying, body guards at their payroll as "staff" c/o taxpayers money. And they even have the guts to tell the press that their 8 year old was "traumatized"- come on! where the guns pointed at their freakin 8 year old?!

Now that the cases are filed, time to see the truth.

When people start to open their mouth without knowing the facts, it shows ignorance. Take a look at all those comments.

While the truth really set as free, it also buries those who are ignorant about what it is.

I saw your brother in the Inquirer newspaper with the eyes pixelated (for his safety, siguro). Headline: "Golf War: Dela Pazes, Pangandamans sue each other".

Hahaha! I just can't stop laughing at the floor after hearing that those South Lanaoan beasts claimed that their 8-yr-old son has also been threatened... THREATENED LANG (kung totoo, pero gawa-gawa lang nila iyon for sure), tapos yung 14-yr-old na si BINO ay BINUGBOG DIN kasama ANG FATHER MO! Child abuse daw... cm'on, kasinungalingan pwe! SILA NGA ANG NAG-CHILD ABUSE EH. SILA NGA ANG LAMANG EH, me bodyguard, me baril, at saka Public Servant. Their victims: defenseless, bodyguardless Dela Paz family.

Did the Nasser Jr let his bodyguards beat up the defenseless 14-year-old boy instead of doing it HIMSELF? Amlufet. Takot siguro si Junior.

To Pangandamans Et Al:

Magresign na kayo!

MENE, THEKEL, PHARES

Are the Pangadaman brothers and their father cowards?

Why do they need bodyguards in a golf course?

Every golfer knows that golf is a "gentleman's sport". Apparently the Pangandamans haven't been informed about this, or they have chosen to ignore this fact.

They think they are special. They have big egos. They are public servants, but they expect everyone around them to serve them.

When everything is all said and done, we can conclude that the Pangandamans need bodyguards in a golf course, and that they are really...COWARDS.
